The first movement of my second string quartet.

My first truly serious electronic work- It's all built out of exploring a few resonances in the piano, and while experimenting with the different sounds I could squeeze out of it, I came across the idea for the overall idea of the work, one of escaping from a dark and nightmarish place to one of relative calm- I subtitled the piece Labyrinth because there are a number of "wrong turns" and reversals throughout the course of trying to reach the end of the piece.

Here's the world premiere recording of Backtalk, a score I wrote for Jacob Wolf who is a truly fantastic clarinetist. This was written in part because, well, clarinet is an instrument that belongs in jazz ensembles! Getting to write this fun back/forth between the clarinet and the ensemble was a unique challenge for me and I think that this world premiere recording was a really fantastic rendition. Hope you all enjoy!

Tone Row Harmony Exercise
