After a year of not releasing music, Madeline Edwards returns to the atmosphere as a force to be reckoned with. Like many of us, 2020 was a stagnant year of painful separation and loss for the singer-songwriter. “I’ve never felt so far from my purpose,” she comments. “My family was healing from the dysfunctional abuse of our father, the world was torn apart by a pandemic and racial chaos… Not being able to perform or release music was like being locked in a trap room that I couldn’t escape from.” Her upcoming release The Road, which Edwards’ claims to be her ‘Beacon of Hope’ for the new year, is a very thoughtful and intentional blend of all of the genres that she grew up with and inspires her - Gospel, Pop, Jazz and Country. The Road also serves as an honest and enlightening commentary on her relationship with God and how she believes that He saved her from the trauma that she has faced. “I write music simply to tell my story and I can’t tell that story without God.”
