Aftermath

A sweet little theme that came into my head today. Inspired by Kebu's "Song for Roger" and LFT's C64 demo "Lunatico." This is probably also the first time I've had my Strat downtuned to drop C-fun for low, fuzzy power chords, but I really do need to get my hands on an actual bass sometime soon.

Synths: Roland Alpha Juno-1
Guitar: Fender HSS Stratocaster through Ableton Amp
Bass: pitch-shifted Strat
Drums: TR-606 samples

Recorded, mixed, and mastered in Ableton Live 9.7.

Starlight

Vocals (through Pyle PDMIC78), Rhodes preset, and some sampled drums. Mixed in Ableton Live 9.7 with Kjaerhus Audio plugins.

Commentary: 
Not bad, overall. Clean mix, but my vocals are a tad pitchy. I wasn't too happy with that Rhodes sound, but it's passable. I had a really good preset once, but I forgot to save it. (urgh!) A bass guitar would have been nice, but my bass is currently disassembled (staining and finishing the body) and I ran out of time before I could play the bassline on guitar.

20 Minute Music #2

Short little jam I created, first thing I've ever done that's really more on the EDM side of things. Inspired by "Lonely Woods" from Boyinaband and Must Die's album "Common Drop."

Drums: tons of mangled samples, including some by Andrew Huang and JayB
Shaker: vocal percussion through a Pyle PDMIC78 and my new Tascam US-1800 (man, those preamps are much better than my old interface!)
Bass: G-Sonique Alien 303 (though it's sounding oddly Moogy...)
Pads: Roland Alpha Juno (dancey) and SQ8L (breathy)
Leads: Ableton Operator (smooth) and Roland Alpha Juno (plucky)
Brass: Roland Alpha Juno (wait, what? more Juno?)
Main stab: Roland Alpha Juno (you can never have enough Juno) and a mangled sample of my powerline (hence the title)

Mixed and mastered in Ableton Live 9.7 with various plugins.

Couldn't resist covering this tune by Ryve, the theme is so cool! I thought I'd take a slightly more rock-oriented spin on it, but there are still tons of synths everywhere.

Oh yeah - this is the first track I've released featuring a few members of the Unreal Choir (really just a crapton of vocal processing, but let's pretend they're an actual choir). You might hear from them again sometime in the future.
