The formidable Rex The Dog returns with his first single for Kompakt in three years, “Change This Pain For Ecstasy”, a slow-burning disco-glitter stomp that’s charged with analogue energy. Pushing his self-built modular hardware set-up to its limits, “Change This Pain For Ecstasy” is taut and thrilling, stripped-back and pulsating, with sweeping chords shimmering through a classic Moroder arpeggio, as a delirious voice sings out a psychedelic raver’s plaint for liberation, pleading for you to "take away my sorrow and this pain”. Deeply emotional, it’s also a masterwork in tension and release, dizzy with snare-rush peaks, and dark, humid valleys where Rex is bound to the patchbay.

On the flipside, Rex gives us “Moto”, which tickles your ear with cymatic phenomena, its gentle vibrations building, beautifully, into a monster-piece of stealth techno. Rex’s DIY synths work overtime as he chases patterns and phases through circuitry, wilding the tones until they erupt into a spray of pointillist pizzicato. The sounds here crackle and corrode, the textures so tantalising, so sensual, you can almost grab hold of them with your hands. It’s great to have Rex The Dog back, making livewire, yet deeply human techno, alive and bursting with electricity.

As bassist for dance-punk outfit The Rapture, Mattie Safer cut his teeth in the music scene alongside a wave of now-legendary early 2000s NYC acts like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, LCD Soundsystem and more (a time period recently immortalized in the documentary film ‘Meet Me In The Bathroom.’) Fast-forward nearly 2 decades and Mattie has found the sweeter side of dance music as the current lead vocalist for slo-mo kings Poolside, and now he presents his solo lovetempo project on Razor-N-Tape.

RNT regular Yuksek does what he does best, and takes the most uplifting tune of the pack into positively joyous hands-in-the-air territory with a stunning remix. Keinemusik’s Reznik links with his longtime collaborator Good Guy Mikesh as they take The One straight to the club with a synthetic shifter of a remix offering distinct dancefloor moments. Nick Catchdubs turns on the E-funk with his take on Turnaround.

On his latest offering, &ME is delivering quite the achievement. Co-produced with Black Coffee, the a-side „The Rapture Pt. III” obviously continues the narrative of its predecessors. But unlike in the motion picture business, where sequels tend to be watered down rehashes of the original, those Raptures are just getting better and better. It’s all here, the dense and gentle build-up, the tender piano lines, the just overwhelming emotion. Safe bet, we’re dealing with a future classic here.

A glowing, otherworldly cut featuring an evocative vocal from Columbian vocalist Martina Camargo, steady beats, intricate percussion and Latin-inspired drum patterns form an irresistible backdrop to her soaring vocal. With a transcendent soulfulness that offsets the tougher elements of the record, the track’s title ‘The Dream’ feels exceptionally fitting, warm and emotive while retaining plenty of dancefloor muscle.

Gadi Mitrani is a highly respected and beloved figure in Turkey's electronic music scene. For over two decades, he has been a visionary producer, DJ, label owner and remixer who is a mainstay on plenty of vital labels from Love&Above to Sudbeat.

Luminous kicks off with soft rolling drums and candle lit melodies flickering over the beats. Organic percussion and well treated strings also get smeared next to plunging minor chords. It's a beautiful and tender place to be. Tempo Addict then picks up the pace with a more direct but still deep groove embellished with vocal fragments, soulful chords and percussion. It's one to carry you away into the night.

This time of year always gets me daydreaming about Ibiza. For me, DC10 is the undisputed best club on the island, but if i could relive any night out in my lifetime, it would be one of the We Love parties, Sundays at Space, around 2007-2009. Getting on the Sunset Terrace mid afternoon and going right through. Ive had the idea of doing this mix for a while but its finally done. 53  records that remind me of them legendary Sundays on Bora Bora and then over at the club.
