Libretto returns for his sixth full length album entitled Rusty Bladez, and is accompanied by Seattle legend Vitamin D handling all production duties, plus a few standout verses of his own.

As evidenced by his inmate ID on the cover, Libretto's meditations on his time spent in the Federal Penitentiary system run throughout the entirety of Rusty Bladez. Libretto recounts in vivid detail the experiences and lifestyle that led him there, and his experiences and mind state once released. Rarely has an album so clearly captured a mood, and provided the type of first person insight that is captured on Rusty Bladez.

Vitamin D's production mastery provides the perfect backdrop for Libretto to recount his true life tales. Finding the perfect balance between the album's somber tone and an undeniable groove, Vitamin D crafts beats that are at home in the world of underground rap, but clearly stand out as a result of their layered musicality. Showcasing his versatile skills across all 17 tracks, Vitamin D once again demonstrates why he is your favorite producer's favorite producer, as well as a force of his own on the mic.

Helping round out the complete picture, Libretto & Vitamin D are joined on the album by top notch lyricists and vocalists including Roc Marciano, Guilty Simpson, Gift of Gab [R.I.P], Planet Asia, Keisha Plum, Jumbo (Lifesavas), Toni Hill, Syndel, and more! But beyond just dropping great guest verses, the features work alongside Libretto and Vitamin D to truly enhance the larger vision and story being told.

Rusty Bladez is the product of two West Coast veterans, made in true collaborative fashion, with their talents and expertise on full display. The album is cinematic, and a complete, fully realized vision with infinite amounts of replay value.

This week we have one special guest, Omali Yeshitela. He is Chairman of the African Peoples Socialist Party (APSP)and leader of the Uhuru Movement and the Black is Back Coalition. The APSP Uhuru House was raided by the FBI in St. Petersburg, Florida along with the Uhuru Solidarity Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
The raids were conducted as part of the indictment of a Russian national accused of acting as a foreign agent in the U.S. But the FBI's actions are part of an old U.S. playbook targeting Black radical organizations which assert their rights to speak in opposition to U.S. policies domestically and internationally. Omali Yeshitela and the Uhuru Movement remain steadfast in defending their right to free association and free assembly that Americans are supposed to have.

Ramrock Red Records are beyond excited to deliver this extraordinarily confident selection of original jazz compositions by Italian composer, producer and studio wizard, Stefano De Santis. Recorded entirely at Re:Fill Studio, Rome in 2022, Stefano plays Rhodes, piano, clavinet, Prophet 5, Moog, Solina String Ensemble, Juno 6 and does all the drum programming on every single title! After being introduced to the EP by Dan Tenor-City, I experienced the same reaction as to when I listened to Ronnie Foster’s seminal ‘Love Satellite’ LP in 1978 for the first time – completely blown away. The sheer strength of the musicality behind each title is phenomenal. Stefano has really pushed his musical boundaries on this solo excursion, highlighting his jazz-funk roots and ever developing studio production skills. This EP showcases Stefano’s diverse palette of sounds where he effortlessly blends a flowing broken beat rhythm section, next level hip hop, future jazz, latin and funk throughout the entire project. One for the serious ‘jazz heads’ – I am expecting BIG support on this one.

Rome based, Stefano De Santis is conservatory trained and raised on the music of Herbie Hancock, Weather Report and Azymuth. He has been a go-to session player in many projects across multiple genres - from jazz to funk, reggae, and pop. In 2017, he launched the ‘Big Beat’ trio who blended pure jazz with new synth sounds and syncopated drum patterns. Later, in 2020, Stefano teamed up with his friend and consummate drummer, Gaetano De Carli to form Re:Fill. Since then, the duo have taken their music to a further level and developed a brace of imaginative and complex grooves. Gaetano provides a rich musical background to combine with Stefano’s soulful synth-work, balancing the old world and the contemporary. Their first record, ‘Cycles’, on Cognitiva Records, was released in June 2022 and features important collaborations with heavy-hitters from the UK’s DJ-producer scene, Ben Hauke and WheelUp.
