Exclusive WhoMadeWho 'I Don't Know (Stereocalypse Remix)'

Set off by a simple and consistent bassline, a tangible drum beat, we are lured into the 7:51 track with a steady grate of percussion followed by a gradual interpolation of electronic application. Complex strata of organic and synthetic sounds emerge fluidly and ascend into a harmonious climax, which with the brief omission of the dominant drum beat, preludes into the first vocal at exactly one minute. A beautiful interchange between instrumental and vocal and Stereocalypse’s dextrous play of diminishing and aggrandizing elements to draw on and draw out the emotions of the original track, are the vim and vigor of this remix. Through a firm and innovative control of tempo and complexity, the remix accentuates the turbulent emotional implications of the track’s lyrics, making it more poignant. WhoMadeWho’s provocative music videos are the icing on the cake to their music, adding the third dimension to their exceptional lyrics and sound. In their remix of I Don’t Know, Stereocalypse’s adds the right elements that bring listeners as close to an audio-visual experience as possible. Hence, there is no wonder that what WhoMadeWho bandmember Tomas Barfod identified as 'a very mellow remix', continues to infiltrate dance floors. Barfod, co-producer of the track had already said it best: 'It somehow turns out to be quite euphoric when played in the club.'

One half of esteemed house duo Waifs and Strays, Amos, launches his new alias: Part Time Lover. Debuting on Crosstown Rebels with Don’t Hesitate, the EP is a stunning six track release that features vocals from Danielle Moore and Oli Gosh, as well as remixes from PBR Streetgang

The EP opens with Don’t Hesitate. A pure house groover, Oli Gosh’s vocals provide the track with a seductive flare, whilst the swinging bassline rolls alongside dynamic pulsing keys. Second up is the dub version of Don’t Hesitate. Stripped back yet still wholesome, the mix features whirring pads. Tied comes next, as Danielle Moore’s incredible soulful vocals coat the record with a dance-ready warmth. PBR Streetgang are first up on remix duties, providing an acid-flecked reinterpretation of Tied that harks back to the 80s with electro-like synths and distorted kicks, before their dub mix continues in a similarly driving vein.

English vocalist Oli Gosh has featured on Dutch house music label Armada Deep. Danielle Moore has been the lead singer of Crazy P since 2002, releasing on the likes of Wolf Music Recordings and Smoke ‘N’ Mirrors. PBR Streetgang released their standout album Late Night Party Line last year on the esteemed Skint label.

Exclusive Whitesquare 'Pressured Mind'

The fourth release on Whitesquare's own label, 'Pressured Mind', is ready to blow the same. The 'Algernon' follow-up musically take a different direction than it predecessor, mostly in it's choice of sounds, because Whitesquare unveils his preference for Acid-bleeps once again, as he introduced us to a rhythmic/ acid-esque hybrid on his previous EP for Dj Tennis' Life And Death label. 'Pressure Mind', which was also part of Whitesquare's art:cast for Torture the Artist in October, seems to be based upon the artist's inevitable groovy bass lines, always containing a resonating funkiness in the sub-frequencies. But 'Pressured Mind' has more to offer than the artist's trademark features as the listener is pulled deeply into the sound-action, namely Whitesquare slowly fades in the Acid-beeps that add the title track's suggested seriousness – or pressures one's mind – while before the aforementioned is basically is hinted at with vocoder-edited vocals. 

Whitsquare's single 'Pressured Mind' was released on his Whitesquare Series label on November 1st, 2019.

The thumping in your heart beats faster and faster. Your breathing deepens; heavy, but steady. The adrenaline gushing through your body as if you could be in this state forever. Not sure if you’re ready for this but the feeling is exhilarating yet terrifying. Everything is under your control and you’ve never felt more powerful. “Dominator” by Kalipo & Local Suicide is an electro anthem filled with physicality and furor, and the exact feeling of determinedness and power. Vamparela’s vocals are similar to that voice inside your gut that you can’t get enough of, while the driven baseline and 80s inspired analog synths will occupy your mind and centre your thoughts. “Crocodile”, the second track of the release, is the other side of the coin - not any less definite, however more haunted and introspected in contrast. It isn’t always easy, but let’s take authority and dance it out before life consumes us!

The double single “Dominator / Crocodile” will be released on February 5th via Hold Your Ground, including mixes by Theus Mago a.k.a. Bufi from Mexico City and Radial Gaze from Saint Petersburg. Calypso co-founder Thomass Jackson and good friend Cornelius Doctor light the fire with 'Alcachofas'. The title translates to artichokes but the music translates to something much tastier. Imagine Blancmange produced by Black Strobe and you’re at the right banquet table. After their incredible "Zodiac EP" on Heinz Music last year, Space Food is back with another banger. "Our Time EP" takes us on a travel with four original tracks packed with energy. The title track takes the lead, and the pumping groove rises along the catchy synths that are accompanied by a mystical vocal. You can really see yourself on a dusty dance floor in a forest, completely losing yourself in the soundscapes created.
"Back Around" has a more playful yet sinister vibe to it, with spherical synths tripping and colliding, creating big moments throughout the track. Thirdly we are introduced to "Saturn". A nicely laid out groove constructs the frame for a melting pot of emotional melodies that lead into the big break.
Last, but not least, we move to the track "Zinger". It immediately strikes you as a bit more percussive tune that still gets riled up by massive synth swirling around until the ultimate release of the drop. Space Food has delivered a wonderful EP yet again, no doubt this 4-tracker will put them on the map for 2020.

Curses' 13 tracks heavy compilation International Waters Vol. 1 for his Ombra International label musically portrays how the past, present and future of the darker Disco with a pinch of New Wave, Post-Punk and Italo Disco could sound like – driving, pulsating, genre-blending music that makes you want to leave the sofa and follow your ordinary weekend routine, namely that of dancing in dark sweaty clubs until the day light. Mufti's contribution Impasse, French for dead end, is the exit strategy for all those initially mentioned genre-lovers. With rockish guitar riffs, a typical smashing discoid bassline Impasse combines the best of many (musical) worlds and puts the different pieces meaninfully together to come up with an impressive track that exploits its six and a half minutes fully and dedicates itself to dance.

'May 1st 2020 is RE:GENERATION DAY, a special celebration of new and exciting talents all carefully chosen by taste making artist and Sapiens boss Agoria. Each of these producers has their own distinct sound, so have been chosen to put out a solo EP on Sapiens label. All four separate EPs drop on the same day under the Re:Generation banner with Henri Bergmann, Mooglie, Mozaïk and Parallells all featuring.

This innovative series is a way of Agoria shining a light on the next generation of talents. Each of them has impressed him with their new music, and between them they cover plenty of essential electronic ground.

Says the man himself, "I am convinced, more than ever, that a loud voice is needed to support artists and future leaders. I most probably became an activist when I had to strive to organise techno and rave parties, which forced me to stand up to the local authorities in order to create the Nuits Sonores Festival in Lyon, France. In that respect, the idea of Re:Generation Day emerged - a day dedicated to bringing four emerging artists to the front. I am fond of their music, and I hope, so will you be, and that somehow it will regenerate you."

Next is the brotherly pair of Mozaïk, who make ethnic and melodic music with bewitching synthesisers lines and powerful drums on labels such as Madorasindahouse, Radiant and Plaisirs Sonores Records. With this new EP, they proves once again that their music has no borders. For the opening, 'Rila' is a track with a Bulgarian folklore touch, melodic and hypnotic synthesizers. Then comes 'Mavembe', which is an exotic track oriented afro house with blends of powerful drums and pads. Mozaik's brothers sign a catchy and heady EP with theses two tracks on Sapiens.'

Kasper Bjørke's making it a family affair as he invites Riotvan co-label honcho Panthera Krause to take on remix duties for his track Venetian Blinds. After Kaspar remixing Road To Arcadia from the Leipzig creative's latest album It's A Business Doing Pleasure With You, Robert, Panthera Krause's real name, returns the favor and adds his discoid yet uplifting touch to the initially mentioned tune from his album Nothing Gold Can Stay. Bjørke's been supporting and playing Panthera Krause's music for a long time due to the fact that he “love[s] his playful spirit and anthem melodies in his production work.“ In the end Robert turned the slow burning rave track into “a genuine piece of pure peaktime joy with a sharp arpeggio baseline and fun 80s stabs“, Kasper says and remind him of Pump Up the Volume by M|A|R|R|S.
