Sulidae (a solo musical project from Bobby Motherwell) is delighted to announce the release of Kitchen Sink Dharma, which will be released on 5th August 2022 on CD and available to stream and download on all platforms.

“Kitchen Sink Dharma is a collection of songs that I felt were better suited to a solo project rather than one projected through our band The Undying Embers. The songs are very personal to me and cover a range of emotions and reminiscences of Love, Loss, and the spiritual and natural beauty of finding a personal Dharma which brings peace to our lives and our surroundings.”

Musical contributors to this album need no introduction and Bobby is delighted that the following musicians were able to add their magic to his songs and to this project, they are:

Kirsten Adamson – backing vocals, Andy Lucas – keys, Duncan Lyle – upright bass, Colin Steele – trumpet, and Alice Allen – cello. Bobby plays guitars and banjo. The album was mixed and recorded by Garry Boyle at Slate Room Studios, Pencaitland and produced by Garry Boyle and Bobby Motherwell

With songs such as A Letter and a Blessing (lead single from the album) and Unspoken Sulidae reflects on the impact of loss and of moving on, or trying to move on against seemingly impossible odds.  The Child in the Growing Old and Brand New Day provides a more positive and uplifting reflection of how the choices we make and the attitudes we nurture and develop, can really impact our mental health and spiritual awareness. There are two spoken word pieces; How Peace Was Won and The Silence Was Deafening both of which are accompanied by ambient sounds, keyboards, and resonator guitar and trumpet respectively; bringing a complementary and natural storytelling feel to balance and bookend both “sides” of the album.

Within the 9 tracks of the album, Sulidae also reflects on a social phobia that plagued him as a younger man and without dwelling on maudlin introspection, reflects on how over the years, a found Dharma has helped to overcome and even harness the insecurities in a creative release.
