Flooded with lights, the city stares at me, wary
All those streets and lanes lead us nowhere.

Where have the dark nights gone?
Nights lit up by the calls of wild geckos
The charms of “Once upon a time” are dead too
Jasmines of the night do not embrace me as I dream
Like starry skies show no affection, 
And our brows long for their caress.

I haven’t yet gotten away and that’s all that matters,
Knee deep in mad desires and sullen disappointment, I could go nowhere
In the corner of a room dimly lit, and with faith that is dimmer still,
From somewhere afar, somewhere deep in my heart, I hear someone call.

Someday when darkness falls, 
And love caresses our beings from within, 
And if someone ever leads us to a world of endless dreams, 
Someday in a moment of blinding faith

একটা বইয়ের নিজের গল্পটা কেমন হতে পারে- এই চিন্তা থেকে গানটা করেছিলাম কিছুদিন আগে। মনে হলো গানটা প্রকাশের জন্য এটা দারুণ সময়! এবারের একুশে বইমেলায় আমার এবং এই গানের রচয়িতা বন্ধু মোস্তাকুর সন্ধান- আমাদের দুজনের দুটো বই প্রকাশিত হয়েছে! সন্ধানের বই ‘সুন্দরের সমীপে’ পাওয়া যাচ্ছে ‘অনন্যা প্রকাশনী’ থেকে। আমার বই ‘গণিতের রঙ্গে হাসিখুশি গণিত’ পাওয়া যাচ্ছে ‘আদর্শ’র ৪১১-৪১২ নং স্টলে।

আমি শব্দের জাল বুনে ভাবি বসে  আনমনে   
আমার পাতায় কেউ যদি হাত রাখত হঠাৎ
কাগজের গালে আমি লেগে থাকি আলো হয়ে 
ভালবেসে কেউ যদি খুলতো মলাট!

উড়ে যেত জোনাকিরা গলি আর ঘুপচিতে 	 	
অগ্নিস্নাত  হত যত আপামর 
আমি রঙিন এক বাক্সে বন্দী কালো অক্ষরে 
কত রঙ জমা আছে আমার ভেতর!  

লেখকের স্বপ্ন আমি বিচিত্র চরকাতে 
বুনেছিল আমায় কোন এক প্রকাশক 	
তারপর আমি রোজ বসে কোন স্টলে 
পথিকের পানে চেয়ে থাকি অপলক!

যান্ত্রিক এ নগরে নিঃসাড় এ আমার 
পাঠকের অপেক্ষায় কাটে দিন-রাত 
কাগজের গালে আমি লেগে থাকি আলো হয়ে 
ভালবেসে কেউ যদি খুলতো মলাট!



একদিন অবশেষে এক উদ্ভ্রান্ত যুবক এসে
ধুলো ঝেড়ে আমায় কিনে করে উদ্ধার
আমার সফেদ বুকে প্রেমিকার নাম ঠুকে
শান্ত বিকেলে মেয়েটিকে দেয় উপহার!

আমি শব্দের জাল বুনে ভাবি বসে আনমনে
আমার পাতায় সেই মেয়েটি যদি চোখ বুলাতো হঠাৎ
কাগজের গালে আমি লেগে থাকি আলো হয়ে 
ভালবেসে সে যদি খুলতো মলাট!

অতঃপর সেই রাতে প্রদীপের আলো হাতে
পড়ুয়া মেয়েটি হল আমার প্রথম পাঠক
মুক্ত আমি সারারাত মুগ্ধ হয়ে দেখলাম
চশমার আড়ালে তার স্নিগ্ধ দু’চোখ!

উড়ে গেল জোনাকিরা গলি আর ঘুপচিতে
অগ্নিস্নাত হলাম আমি অতঃপর 	
আমি রঙিন এক বাক্সে বন্দী কালো অক্ষরে 
কত রঙ জমা ছিল আমার ভেতর!
