Breaking The Line is the closing track from Line of Flight's 'More Than Human' EP'.
This song extents their "80's electro-pop for the 21st Century" (Tom Robinson, BBC6Music) sound to include drums and piano, to a haunting yet powerful and plaintive effect. 
The song focuses on the tensions between individual and global paranoia, loss, and destruction; asking, hoping in the chorus that it's not all not too late.
The EP will be available on vinyl in October 2023, with 6 remixes of their tracks on the B-side. Released via Fairsound-Press On Vinyl.

The sophomore release by Lines of Flight 'More Than Human' is an E.P. of change. Standing in contrast to 'Signs of Life's reflective emotions, triggered by lockdown, 'More Than Human' begins the process of looking forward. They confront what is lying ahead. Lines of Flight explore what humans do to each other and why they do it; what we they do to other animals we share the world with; and what humans do to the planet. 

They saw loneliness, self-sabotage, isolation, paranoia and fear. They saw the natural world remaining here long after we are gone. They saw the pandemic fade away and things returning to 'normal'. They saw that things won't ever be the same but that so much hasn't changed. We are creatures of habit, we are creatures of comfort, we don't change unless we have to, or until it is too late.

Varrick Zed's insouciant introduction sets the tone for 'Very', a taut new assault on the dancefloor from NYC avant-pop miscreants, Strange Flesh.

Taking aim at societal expectations as to how a life ‘ought’ to be lived, ‘Very’ is an anthem for those on their own deliciously precarious path, the soundtrack to beloved but ill-paying employment, affordable decadence, no children, and a healthy disregard for the future. 

Underpinned by a pulsating bassline and minimal electro-funk beat, the track’s wickedly catchy sonic palate is peppered with deconstructed synth hooks and subtle ambient flourishes, which, together with Varrick’s ice cool sprechgesang vocals, turn ‘Very’ into a full-blown pop leviathan. 

While we're feeling nebulous, 'Very' is backed by the darker, galloping strains of 'Sugoku', an accelerated club belter that complements its predecessor very well, before the EP's title track is hacked to pieces and rehewn by Digital Equipment Co. into a dementedly hiccupping new beast.

Last of all, legendary New Zealand DJ Stinky Jim elongates 'Very' into a jawdropping eight minute dub extravaganza, closing out this sizzling EP with aplomb.

For the as-yet-uninitiated, Strange Flesh comprises native New Yorker Varrick Zed, and London expatriate Ed Zed. The duo is based in Brooklyn, where they craft left field pop music out of whatever they find lying around in their apartment and their ravaged minds.

But the dream feels alive and you can influence it like a video game. Battery Operated Orchestra’s new music video is well-timed with the horror season. Always On draws parallels between the preening mice of John Calhoun’s experiments in utopia and the effects of the insistent feed of social media.
This synthpop punch has been spiked. BOO’s trademark analogue oomph is there along with Brigitte’s dead-pan to increasingly hysteric vocals. The catchy whoops make you want to groove but in the back of your mind is the niggling feeling they could be screams of terror. It all builds to a whirling climax you can’t help but be swept up in.

The single will be available to stream or to buy with pre-orders of their fifth album Compulsory Games from Friday October 6th.

Uncle Kid makes dark, brooding, understated trip hop with spoken word.
