The mysterious producer Prequel Tapes released his debut album ‘Inner Systems’ in November on vinyl, CD and digital.

Describing his process as “a work of deep synthesis,” he has already remixed Ninja Tune mainstays Fink and Yppah. His take on OKRAA’s Vultur applies a gorgeous, dream- pop sheen to the original, pairing the melancholic vocal with loops of drifting feedback and understated 2-step rhythm. 

Colombia’s finest purveyor of psychedelic, deeply soulful future garage, Torres Alonso aka OKRAA released sophomore EP Vultur in October via Hot Gem Tunes, with artwork by Konx-Om-Pax (Warp Records, Rustie, Mogwai, Jamie Lidell). Following the dizzying, euphoric intensity and hyper-real colour of the EP, he now follows up with an exclusive remix by Prequel Tapes.

With “Caused Corruption & Spilled Blood“, the second release on Voidance Records, Chafik Chennouf & Katsunori Sawa have created a soundtrack of the tragic drama of humanity ́s fatal flaws, meditating on the question whether the angels were right to fear mankind's creation of causing corruption and spilling blood according to an anecdote that all Abrahamic religions share.
The follow up „Mediate Between Them“ may not provide an answer to this question, but further elaborates on the topic. Whereas issues such as obstruction of truth for personal gains, affinity for internal destruction or longing for salvation were originally approached more internally by means of ambient or experimental electronics, the experience now emerges through the work of renowned artists Samuel Kerridge, Eomac, Nene H. and Stave using Noise, Techno and stepping Industrial as their weapons of choice.

François X presents Irregular Passion Reshaped, a 12 track LP that re-works his album of the same name, due for release on the 12th of December on Demented XXX. The original full length LP, released in 2018 explored themes of euphoria and melancholy. Entertaining the listener with sensual atmospheres and unpredictable fervour, all designed to mirror the emotions and intensities of nightlife. With Blade Runner-esque soundscapes and bassy club tracks, François X played with a variety of genres and references, holding the piece together with cinematic and hedonistic atmospheres. François X has invited an accomplished list of friends and artists, both established and newcomers, to reimagine the album tracks for Irregular Passion Reshape, building a community of like-minded producers that boldy represent what XXX is all about. From Bjarki’s frenzied IDM exploration of breaks and golden era dubstep on ‘Blurry Youth’, to Anthony Linell aka Abdullah Rashim’s experimental reshape of ‘Down Under’. The collection marks a beautiful transmigration of the original work, embodying the diversity and myriad inﬂuences in François’ own music.   ‘I wanted a complete rework of my album, containing a wide range of musical directions. A good representation of what XXX is all about. The important thing for me was to have some real transformations on my original material, in a way its a complete new album.’

The original tune "Rain Catcher" by Lama's Dream  itself is a piece of art and the remixes from other artists like Ivan Latyshev were on a super high level so that was a real challenge for me. That’s why I decided to go the other way when creating my vision. I basically repeated my meditation practise and recalled the sounds that were born in my head during this mind silence mode. So that’s how the main element came out - the bassline - deep and on a certain frequency that corresponds to my internal breathing sound so I’ve just recorded it into my mind and then put in notes. So all the rest came out around this centre bassline flow and literally the whole creation process I was floating and talking with that lower frequency melody… Such a unique experience - the song created by feelings and not by specific rules.
