This spring Zen Feedbacker and Snick Snack Music are proud 
to present, for the first time the recorded works of legendary Norwegian electronic pioneers Sadomaoistan. 

From the depths of Tromsø’s post-punk underground to the neon-drenched euphoria of the early rave scene—Sadomaoistan’s story is one of reinvention, queer rebellion, and raw 
artistic energy. Now, for the first time, their recorded works are available in a definitive collection that charts their evolution from industrial provocateurs to trailblazers of the Norwegian electronic movement, remastered by Lasse Marhaug. 

To celebrate the event Sadomaoistan founder Halvard Haldorsen, Zen Feedbacker and Snick Snack have invited friends and family to remix the original material, resulting in a flurry of activity and contributions from old Norwegian masters like Biosphere, Alexander Rishaug and Tore Honore Bøe. 

American queer, avant-house and electronica producer The Soft Pink Truth and London’s finest Dale Cornish, are putting an international touch to the series of remixes. Key players in current Norwegian club scene, like Øyvind Morken, Helene Rickhard and many more have also paid their remixing tributes to Sadomaoistan’s legacy. 

The first volume of remixes will be released on Snick Snack Music May 30. 
It includes mixes by Snick Snack’s own Trulz&Robin as their techno alias KSMISK, Ost&Kjex, The electro soul of Robomatic, Oslo extraordinaire Øyvind Morken, Swedish disco producer Kuddsnack and Norwegian ‘90s scenester Christian Rot.

Sadomaoistan - EP1 Remixed by Kuddsnack, Ost&Kjex, Øyvind Morken, Robomatic, KSMISK & Christian Rot

On his latest EP, Øyvind Morken continuous his quest for the eternal quirky dancefloor bomb, and comes up with no less than three analog gems, full of old school swing, soul & dirt. 

Over the years Øyvind has developed his own unique take on the dance formula, turning inspiration from the innocent and musically open days of the early and mid-nineties into something very singular. Take the best of Bleep techno, Fragile Records, Kenny Larkin’s early productions, The Black Dog and the mother ship, Detroit techno. Mix it with a solid dose of the here and now, a handful of grit, and you start to reach something that resembles Morken’s sound. 

About the Release: 
Morning Privilege (Sunrise Mix) is a jacking house monster, with those rims and claps we love and an insane bassline! And please do try it! It surely is a Morning Privilege! Tittle track “Don’t techno for an answer” is deep and raw, soulful techno with hypnotizing bleep melodies. A pure dancefloor workout made with machines, not computers. And with a huge loving nod to the Motor City! Rounding off the EP is “Frustration” an angry, old school, driving techno number with echoes of Reese.

"SmåSnacks - smòːsnaks – Norwegian bite-sized bits of music to nibble on, often served casually between meals or at gatherings."

The Norwegian electronic music scene is more vibrant than ever and here at Snick Snack HQ, we are super excited to present a compilation with some of our favourite, current producers. With contributions from established Snick Snack artists like Ost & Kjex, Trulz & Robin, Sex Judas feat. Ricky and Mungolian Jetset, plus a wide selection of new up and coming artist, friends in the scene and new projects as Djembe Tekno, Helene Rickhard, Anders Hajem, Henrik Villard, Mojo, Romdrakt, Boblebad and Center of the Universe.

This compilation only scratches at the surface of the activity within the Norwegian club scene, with great music coming out on a flurry of labels like Lek, Snorkel, Badabing, Metronomicon Audio, Mhost Likely, Boring Crew Records, Monument, Fluxx Collective, Ploink, Snick Snack and not to forget the always excellent Full Pupp and Smalltown Supersound labels, and a newly revived Tellé Records.

With SmåSnacks Vol. 2 we aim to show some of the diversity, originality and quality in a scene that is growing ever more confident. The eastern tinkled slow house of Center of the Universe, the dirty party breaks off Mojo, the deep, driving house of Henrik Villard & Anders Hajem, the twisted disco of Sex Judas feat. Ricky, the warm techno of Trulz & Robin, the fun loving and groovy house of Ost & Kjex, the deep space journeys of Helene Rickhard, all shows a diverse scene that favours an individualistic and open approach to music making.

Snick Snack Music - SmåSnacks Vol. 2 - Preview

Second single out from the coming “Teriya” album by the new power duo of Sidiki Camara and Tore Gjedrem is the driving, afro acid house number “Yankaou”. Combing Sidiki’s insane skills on the djembe, Malian chants and three layers of acid lines into a peak time, dance floor monster. 

Djembe Tekno is a new project from Tore Gjedrem (Ost&Kjex / Sex Judas) and Malian percussionist and musician extraordinaire, Sidiki Camara. Djembe Tekno will release their debut album “Teriya” on Snick Snack Music October 31, and it’s a highly danceable and funky fusion of West African rhythms and contemporary club sounds. 

Sidiki Camara’s main instrument djembe runs like a river thru the album, so does his singing in his Malian native tongue with chants and blessings driving the music forward. The duo uses traditional instruments like balafon, ngoni and talking drums, cooking up a brew combining inspiration from UK Bass music, Batida, House, Techno and Breaks with African music traditions rooted in Mali. 

DJEMBE TEKNO - YANKAOU

120BPM is the second single from Helene Rickhard's album "Unpredictable Express"

We are very excited to present the second single from Helene Rickhard’s upcoming debut album «Unpredictable Express” on Snick Snack Music, which is a little taster in form of the deep sea, techno-disco journey 120 BPM. Backed by a Sex Judas feat. Ricky remix which enhances the originals most funky parts, into a deadly nudisco bomb with the bands very own Malian percussionist, Sidiki Camara on lead vocals. 

Helene is a hidden gem in the Norwegian electronic music underground. Unknown to the outside world, but a beloved dj and producer here back home. Known for her eclectic dj-sets, adventurous taste and her ear watering record collection. She’s living a quiet life in the coastal town of Arendal with her cats, records and her analog synths, but now she’s stepping out as a producer and is releasing no less than two albums on Snick Snack this fall and winter. Helenes sound is an ingenious mix of psychedelic disco, 80’s wave music, techno, krautrock, ambient and it truly operates in a world of its own. This is astral music for astral people! Psychedelic to the core, but also warm, adventurous and highly original. To be honest we have not heard such a great talent in years here up north and we are super excited to start this long journey!
