Jingle Bells originally composed by James Lord Pierpont in 1857 was published as One Horse Open Sleigh intended for Thanksgiving holiday. This arrangement modifies this public domain piece with instrumentation and genre. It has been arranged as a hip-hop rap solo with clean slightly modified original lyrics to give an authentic hip-hop urban feel. This is an easy and should provide some refreshing fun for intermediate students. The instrumentation is purely percussion. If a teachers has a particularly cool musical student with some swag and performance quality, this would be an excellent feature. But choral groups of all sizes and levels can enjoy this pieced. The percussion includes conga drums, tom-toms, sleigh bells, and studio drum set or comparable. Beatboxing the percussion would add a nice challenge and flavor for your choral groups.

I had been pondering about my piano piece Missing You. I wanted all the notes to resonate and soar in a way I couldn't initially figure out until a eureka moment popped in my head - the organ.  I added organ pedals that create the perfect music canvas foundation while the moving melody and harmonies weave in and out of each other.   The song takes a whole new meaning that which is more befitting of the cathedral pipe organ's emotive grandeur.   In essence it sounded like a completely different song than its piano counterpart. So, I named this organ piece Mysterium Tenebris meaning, Dark Mystery in Latin.   The song conveys just that, a sense of dark mystery with the organ's timbre resonating a Gothic musical flavor to the piece.

To understand why I composed this arrangement of Silent Night, Holy Night in the way that I did, close your eyes and imagine taking a holy journey or pilgrimage to visit the Holy Nativity.  I musically convey what I imagined it would have been like to make this long journey like the Three Wise Kings and others did to follow the Star of Bethlehem to see the Blessed Child that prophets have foretold.  As each person begins the journey, you will hear the distinctly grave motif indicative of the quest  that was before them.  The brass gloriously herald one's approach to the Holy Nativity coupled with the commencement of the Silent Night, Holy Night carol theme upon one's arrival. 

The music Silent Night, Holy Night was originally composed in 1818 by Franz X. Gruber.  The original lyrics were were written in German by James Mohr also in 1818.  This Christmas Classic was translated to English in 1859 by John Young.  I wrote this arrangement yesterday as an intermediate level piano solo.This is a re-imagined version of Franz Gruber's Christmas Carol classic Silent Night, Holy Night.  Section A begins with a poignant introduction in C Minor, then modulates to C Major for the main" Silent Night, Holy Night" Christmas Carol theme in Section B. Section C returns to a new version of its introductory C Minor motif.  The song segues back to its "Silent Night, Holy Night theme, but modulating to D Major for its closing.  Duration = 4 minutes 42 seconds.

L' heure de la Mort pays tribute to those taken away from us - to those gone too soon.  May they rest in peace as they are blessed in the eyes of God.

L' heure de la Mort means the hour of death.  L’ heure de la Mort allows one to to reflect, to contemplate, to grieve, and to ponder one's existence.  Musicians, young and seasoned, will find this piece easily accessible and enjoyable for learning and performing.  Audiences will identify with the musical emotionality conveyed in this piece as it takes its listeners on a vivid passionate journey filled with much pathos. L’ heure de la Mort  not only embraces death but also takes listeners on an epic journey infused with courage, nobility, respect, and courage to overcome our greatest challenges.  The piece begins with a dark, foreboding, expressive cello solo motif symbolizing death’s existence.  Then it takes an epic climactic build to convey life’s journey with a sense of overcoming adversity as one does throughout life. The strings and woodwinds herald a sweeping triumphant melody while the brass rise gloriously heralding  the joys of life. However, the return to the opening theme in the closing represents death’s natural, respectful inevitability, concluding this life as a step to moving onward to the hereafter.

Tito Abeleda is music composer and producer at Visionary Quest Records creating a wide range of music from Modern Classical to Cinematic music.
Tito graduated cum laude with High Honors from Butler University, Jordan College of Fine Arts with a B.A. in Performing Arts majoring in Music, Dance, & Theatre. With over 30 years of professional experience in the entertainment industry, Tito has worked as composer, music director, director/choreographer, Broadway performer, and producer. In 2017, Tito founded Visionary Quest Records to embody his music. Notably, Visionary Quest Records music is all instrumental. Its mission statement is that Visionary Quest Records is a record label helping creators bring their creative visions to life with music. His music conveys a wide range of human emotions from powerfully epic, suspenseful, and action oriented to dreamy, tranquil, and sorrowful. Tito composes & produces his music from his home studio in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
