Sci - Fi

Lonely Star

With their pursuit at an end, The Astronaut disengages their warp drive. Just ahead, the noxious, radioactive nebula awaits.

Suddenly, the obsidian stone recovered from the monolith begins to glow a deep purple. A strange aura compels The Astronaut to fly directly into the cloud. Unsure of what awaits on the other side, The Astronaut descends into The Nebula.

Into The Nebula

First written in 2010 with a single verse, the song slowly developed since then, going through several developments since its inception. I wanted the drums in the verse to have a bombastic 1/1 feel, hence the heavy bass drums and tom-toms. The song lacked a proper chorus for several years, so Adam Becker helped me structure one.

The "bones are brittle" passage was originally structured as a third verse; it would have been twice the length of the first two verses with eight lines as opposed to four. In 2019, the third verse was replaced with a new bridge section, and only the first four lines were retained from the original verse. Leo Scarselletta was responsible for giving this section a half-time feel.
