Oskar Gigele wrote the piece Er liebt sie for his magister thesis. It is a re-imagination of Robert Schumann's song Ein Jüngling liebt ein Mädchen. The text was changed entirely by Gigele, to fit a more modern context and add current topics such as homosexuality and self-determination. Musically the piece consists of many small building elements, derived from Robert Schumann's original chords, reshaped in a modern fashion, to give an entirely new tonal experience. The order of these small elements varies and gives the piece a natural vividity and smooth flow. While the majority of the piece has a melancholic feel to it, the mood shifts to a more humorous ending, inspired by the cheerful nature of the original piece.

Sakawa is a symphonic ballet in nine scenes, performed attacca. The title refers to the Ghanaian subculture of internet scammers, dubbed Sakawa Boys, who seek to increase their fortune through supernatural means. The story is a Faustian tale of a young Ghanaian man whose ambitions of becoming a high-rolling internet scammer cause him to strike a bargain with a mallam, or conjurer, who offers him increased power and wealth...but at an increasingly dire cost. Here is a preview of the first four scenes.
