Chicago-based chillout producer, Edamame, delivers his 14-track album, Bask on Gravitas Recordings. The project is a balmy breeze, warping through feelings of absolute bliss and unadulterated serenity. While the compositions embrace an ambient motif, expressive percussion and graceful melodies weave energy throughout. Fans of CloZee, Bonobo, and Random Rab will resonate with this release. 

Setting the tone for the album, “Kishi Kaisei” blends angelic vocals with vivid drums. On “Sable,” Edamame and his Loci Records cohort Tor construct a dreamlike state through atmospheric and hypnotic sounds. The title track “Bask” tides in and out with a soothing bassline, feathered synths, and subtle vocals. “Passim”, which features the illustrious Emancipator, romances the ear drums by way of steelpan, sitar, and rolling percussion that culminates into a sensual outro.

‘Give + Take’, Bassline Drift’s anticipated second full-length album, takes the listener through a euphonic narrative guided by exotically sensual subwoofer rhythms. Rachel “Sink” Lindsay’s hauntingly sultry vocals fuse perfectly with the diversity of other world-music elements, conveyed by producer Keli Marks throughout the 9 track composition. While effortlessly blending a unique array of genre-influences, the duo demonstrates focus on an overall narration; a wide range of fans will feel right at home with the musical synthesis of this LP released via Gravitas Recordings.

Opening on a warm, soft note, the title track showcases classical depth prior to a switch toward meticulous glitchiness via its energy-ramping bass drop. ‘Engine’ flaunts pop-music sensibilities peppered with a unique left-field twist, remaining true to Bassline Drift’s overall “world bass” sound. The vibe takes a colorful turn with ‘The Fortune Teller’; without diverging from the album’s storyline, the track readily floats into electro-gypsy territory. ‘Radha Ramana’ ft. Kirtaniyas continues the exotic vibe, channeling deep, soul shaking bass before ‘Forever Young’ wraps up the release on a somber note.

"Sci-Fi Lullabies is my homage and love affair to intelligent and thought provoking science fiction and genre literature.  I tried to capture a sense of place in each track and make each one feel as if it was it's own world in an alternate universe.  I dove deep into the modular and analog synths to get a real high fidelity otherworldly sense of sound design and interest".

Bluetech returns to his roots with an album of delicate and intricate downtempo music.  Realized with a collection of analog synths and modular explorations, Sci-Fi lullabies hearkens back to the early Bluetech albums like Prima Materia and Elementary Particles with its hyper detailed and evolving production acumen.

Evoking a classic era of electronic music and realized in an analog domain brings a particular warmth and sense of nostalgia to the tracks, dancing between melodic idm, expansive downtempo and lush ambient worlds.

Created as an homage to science fiction and magical realist literature, Sci-Fi Lullabies establishes eight otherworlds for listeners to explore with open eye dreaming .
