From saying, "When you hit that ball so low, I can't get to it no I'm just too slow" to saying, "I'm gonna win this match yeah there no stopping me," Alex Belser's song Match Point sums up what a tennis match is like in one song. He got the idea to write this song after making a beat before a tennis lesson in September 2021. After he got home from the lesson, he sampled hitting a tennis ball as part of the drums in the beat. About a week later, he started writing the lyrics. "I've never written song lyrics so fast," Alex says. "I just sat down one night and wrote all of them." After he recorded these lyrics, he did not touch the song for a couple of months until he came up with another idea. After a few months went by, Alex recorded the autotuned part of the song.
