SoundCream Light | Serving Fourteen

Those of you who know me musically know that as much as I love house, disco, and pop, trance is my first love. I was that weird kid listening to DJ Tiësto and Paul Oakenfold CDs that my brother and I downloaded off KaZaA on school trips in middle school on my RioVolt CD player.

It's been very exciting for me to watch trance and eurodance make a comeback in the last year or two, both in the underground and the mainstream.

I'm watching recorded sets on YouTube of a new generation of DJs (many of whom are queer / trans) play a new trance sound to packed festivals in Europe, Calvin Harris and David Guetta get nominated for Grammys for eurodance tracks, and a bedroom gen Z producer go viral on TikTok for a trance remix of a song about Prada.

I wasn't sure with what to fill in the "genre" field for all these tracks in my music library, so somewhere along the way, I started calling it nu trance. With that said, I present to you, the nu trance era.
