On Imitation of War, songwriter and guitarist Kayla Cohen advances Itasca into rockier terrain, with a suite of smoky nocturnes and uneasy idylls surveying, with refreshing urgency, mythologies and psychologies both classical and personal. SHORT DANCE IN THE SUN

Last October I returned to work for the first time in years. I went through a very dark time in my life. Julie, my rock, saved my life. When I had given up on myself, my wife, my children, my family and the friends, who I consider my extended family, never did. I would not have made it to 2024 without their support.
Those closest to me joined me for my 1 month work anniversary to celebrate my road to recovery. My brother Chris, honored me with this poem he wrote about me. I was so moved by it I just had to set it to music.  
May, 10 2024 will mark 7 months in recovery. I feel it's important to share my story in an effort to raise awareness and do my part to remove the stigma of people struggling with mental health issues. So many people suffered traumatic experiences far worse than I did. Too many of them suffer in silence and make the ultimate sacrifice everyday.
