I started this song just a few weeks before a dear friend was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in late 2019.  I wrote this for her to sing but I never finished the song. We worked on the lyrics together.  I'm still working on this song,  and I hope one day, I will find someone to sing this beautiful lullaby in Gloria's memory.

Losing My Way, Suite for Piano

Happy New Year everyone!  My first piece of the new year, A Moment in Time, is just a blip in the big picture of the universe and our life.  Incomprehensible really.  But everyday we experience each moment as a fully integrated part of our being.  However long or short, these moments are the DNA of existence or conciousness while alive on this earth.  Thank you all for a wonderful 2024 and supporting my music.  I am infinitely inspired and humbled by the extraordinary creativity I hear from your music each day!  THANK YOU! Here's to 2025!

A Moment in Time

When I watch a flock of birds playfully soar in the sky above, it's as if there is an instinctive drive to out-fly their peers in a game of tag.  On this windy day, I watched a flock of birds draw pictures of circles, triangles, swirls while diving through, over and above the clouds, clipping wings in a cat and mouse scurry.  And, most astonishing, I see the birds chasing the fastest cloud taken by the wind.  With outstretched wings, like on a magic carpet, the cloud carries the bird through the wind until a new cloud appears.  A magnificent display of beauty, agility, strength and skill in an ordinary sky in my back yard!

My piano piece is a relaxing and dreamy fantasy of flying through the clouds, chasing them with the wind, and carrying me to a place of serenity, beauty and peace.

Awakening

Panta Rhei, origin Greek "Everything flows" is such a beautiful title for this song.  Each day I wake up with a view of the historic Nashua River where industry and tales of life abound!  

A dear friend shared with me a quote by Heraclitus, “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.”
― Heraclitus. 
Goethe referred directly to Heraclitus in the poem “Duration in Change”:
With every downpour
Your lovely valley changes,
Alas, and in the same river,
You will not swim a second time.

Panta Rhei

An eerie and haunting feeling when the fog rolls in over the shoreline. 
Yet, it is beautiful, serene and the inspiration for artists of all media.  And, when the fog lifts into the horizon and slowly disappears, I feel that I am lifted too.  There is a clarity, a sense of optimism of life's eternal cycle.

The Fog Has Lifted 

I stood at the shore as an 
Eerie veil rolls into view 
The mist, hauntingly cloaks the air, 
Like a shroud of sorrow, draped with care.
In quiet depths, where shadows creep, 
The soul within me begins to weep.
The fog wraps tight, like a gray cocoon, 
Blocking the sight of the sun and moon.
Yet through the haze, a golden thread 
Of light comes dancing through.
It pierces clouds and reveals the sky,
Lifting the fog behind my eyes.
The fog dissolves, and my spirit flies. 
I’m in the light -my truth is clear.

Ode to Earth

Most of us don't have a lake but imagine the light outside your window, the rellections bouncing off the wall, the flickering of a candle, the color reflected in a mirror, the light moving in the shadows.  When listening, stare at the light somewhere in your space. Let your mind settle, begin to daydream, draw pictures in your head, and breathe deeply and fully.

This is Not a Lake
A lightkeeper watches, saves,
And nurtures the light.
He gives light to each living thing on earth,
A gift of love and hope, 
Inspiring dreams, imagination and memories.
YOU ARE THE LIGHTKEEPER
Cradle your thoughts with light.
Bring it into your space, wherever you are.
With a window of light…
A flickering candle, 
Dancing shadows on every surface,
Walls, glass, mirrors, water…
Scattering brilliance,
With strokes of fleeting illumination. 
Gaze at the wall of light and dark
As light moves—
Like a memory in the folds of your mind,
Shifting between stillness and longing.
Settle yourself in its glow;
Let it fill the quiet spaces.

Wonder Land
Upward I sail, with a jittery heart
Could this really be real? I thought
The wind hums a welcoming song
I tremble as a swirling gust comes along

I drift calmly in a whispered tone
Legato chords of echoes abound
Hot air rises, as the flames lift me high 
A crescendo builds and bursts in the sky!

Below, a world—of nature’s perfection
Peaks and valleys in every direction
Ancient ruins embellish the land,
Of stories of Kings written in sand

The wonders of the world, 
A masterpiece so grand. 
A symphony created by humanity's hand
And here I am! A witness to its glory!
In a magical balloon

Impromptu

It's spring and yet in New England it is still cold enough to snow at 28 degrees, and then 60 degrees two days later!  
My first piece of the new year, A Moment in Time, is just a blip in the big picture of the universe and our life. Incomprehensible really. But everyday we experience each moment as a fully integrated part of our being. However long or short, these moments are the DNA of existence or conciousness while alive on this earth. Thank you all for supporting my music. It has been a very difficult year for me personally.  But musically, I believe I am writing some of my best music.  I am infinitely inspired and humbled by the extraordinary creativity I hear from your music each day, and the wonderful friends I have encountered from every part of the world! THANK YOU! 

I believe what the world needs is more songs about love for all living things and the earthly treasures around us. The power of love is magical, mysterious, and miraculous!  And, it is essential to our survival like water and the air we breathe.  I believe that through the universal language of music, love can heal, bring joy, and create an invisible chain that pulls all of us together, not apart.

A Little About Me...
I started composing in 2016  after not touching the piano for many years. Career, raising a family and just everday life got in the way of making music. After retiring as a music teacher in the public schools, I started dreaming of playing the piano again and my years of classical training slowly came back to me. I love every genre of music, and the talent and creativity on SoundCloud has inspired me at every level.  I am very grateful to all my listeners and the gift of music in my life!

For those of you who follow me on Soundcloud, I have been experimenting with adding tracks to my piano compositions.  I create and record everything using a Yamaha 660DGX, including the instrumental tracks built into the keyboard. Then I edit on my laptop using Sony Sound Forge Music Pro.  It's a simple set up, and I have lots to learn.  Thank you for listening and helping me in my musical journey!
