This is my rendition of one of my favorite songs, Finally Home by the Christian contemporary band MercyMe. The song is about imagining what Heaven will be like. 
It originally has a more mellow, country feel to it but I wanted to give it a little more punch, mixing in some Latin, pop rock and soul influences. I had a lot of fun recording and producing this track with GarageBand.

I had a lot of fun making my first-ever instrumental beat for the SoundCloud Dose of Joy contest. I started with the Hip Hop kit provided and took it from there. I notice that a lot of hip hop/trap music is made in a minor key, which typically makes it sound more somber and grave. I decided to switch that up and go with a major key -- B major, to be exact -- so that it could naturally sound more cheerful and positive.

I had been working on this a couple years ago and my husband found the recording and resent it to me. I believe I recorded it on either Audio Bridge or N-Track. I love this hymn and will probably do a new version now that I have more audio engineering experience!

This African-American spiritual dates back to the mid 1800s. Traditionally I've heard it sung in a 4/4 time signature but I wanted to give it more of a gospel/blues feel by changing it to a 6/8 shuffle.
