The Great Famine in Ireland, also known as the Great Hunger (Irish) the Famine and the Irish Potato Famine was a period of starvation and diseases in Ireland lasting from 1845 to 1852. It constituted a historical social crisis and subsequently had a major impact on Irish Society and its history as a whole. The most severely affected areas were in the western and southern parts of Ireland—where the Irish Language was most dominant and hence the period was contemporaneously known in Irish as an Drochshaol, which literally translates to 'the bad life' and loosely translates to 'the hard times'. The worst year of the famine was 1847, which became known as 'Black '47'. During the Great Hunger, roughly 1 million people died and more than 1 million more left the country causing the population to fall by 20–25% between 1841 and 1871 (in some towns populations fell as much as 67%).  Between 1845 and 1855 at least 2.1 million people left Ireland, primarily on ships once used for the transport of slaves, one of the greatest exoduses from a single island in history. “One Million to the Ground and a Million to the Wind". (1)	He Sailed the Bay. I wrote this in memory of a special person; friend and brother to my cousin's wife - Dave Eglington, who we lost at no age of 46 to cancer. He took his chances in his short life, coming from a small social housing estate in Luton, Bedfordshire UK, he studied and worked hard and became a Design Engineer. Moving to the USA, met and married the girl of his dreams and Sailed the Bay, the beautiful San Diego Bay. One of his passions – everyone should endeavour to fulfil as many of their dreams as possible before they’re called. Sail the Bay – God bless Dave, a short but full life

Soho Mood: I wrote about a lovely long afternoon in the City of London, we stood in a warm evening bar (The Devonshire Arms, Piccadilly – now no more, now a doughnut bar) When this cool dude and his stunning lady walked in. He carried a case “like Machine Gun Kelly”, he produced a Saxophone and rang the roof with Baker Street – just like John Coltrane at Ronnie Scott’s so cool. Yet outside, an ex-Marine who’d “seen better days” was asking for spare change  - no one should be homeless and especially those that give so much. Mix of vocals and sax.

This I wrote after I met with a couple who use to live alone in separate apartments though in the same block, they seldom met, but occasionally they'd hurry past each other, busy in their thoughts and the work they were off to. Both would like company and love. And then the arrow hit when a smile was caught and time was made for a 'good morning, how are you today' conversation. Timing is everything and the one for you maybe passes you every day !

Hi All, thank you for looking in and hopefully listening to my music. I'm at the back end of life's journey now and some journey its been. Would like to go back and do it all again, would like to meet my teenage self and tell him not to be so stupid and point him in the right direction. Those shadows are now gone - With a great love for all types of music and with a very limited ability to play guitar, I've attempted to write some songs calling on my life experiences, memories and the people I've met along the way. Hopefully they may be liked - thank you all.
