To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Defected Records presents a series of extra special collaborative releases Together, integrating talent from the label’s storied past and the stars of its future as one of Dennis Ferrer’s Defected standouts, ‘Mind Your Step’, receives a remix from label champion Sam Divine. Featuring American singer-songwriter Janelle Kroll, the 2013 original signposted a notable resurgence for deep house at that time, then receiving remixes from Nick Curly and André Hommen. Over a decade later, ‘Mind Your Step’ remains a record box staple, now receiving an update from Sam Divine. The DJ, producer and broadcaster’s relationship with the label is stronger than ever in 2024, playing for Defected at Ushuaïa Ibiza, Glastonbury, and flagship festivals in Croatia and Malta - also releasing a string of singles like her previous Together series release ‘Cruel Intentions’ with Hannah Wants and Jem Cooke, and ‘Saved By The Record’ with Josh Barry. The summer season might be all but over, but the good times keep on coming courtesy of this latest missile from Do Not Sleep by Luuk Van Dijk with a top remix from Ben Sterling.

Amsterdam based talent Van Dijk has had music in his bones since his youth and next to laying down sets at Paradise, Awakenings, elrow, Cocoon he has held a residency at Straf_Werk and released on taste making labels like Hot Creations, Solid Grooves, and Circus Recordings. He saves his best for Do Not Sleep however.

In the District is tight, tough, hard hitting house music with interwoven drums and bass that get right under your skin and make you move, while synths and percussion peel off the busy groove. Blunted then marries warped basslines and crisp claps with woodpecker hits. It is atmospheric, stripped back but effective house that makes an immediate mark. The remix of In the District by fast rising UK talent Ben Sterling is another brilliantly direct track with prying bass loops, freaky vocal echoes and a late night sense of mischief.

This is another vital offering from Do Not Sleep.
