Never actually intended to record this as a cover. Somehow that's how all my messy recordings begin their journey. A few nights ago I was up late, lost in thoughts of my wonderful "Muse". I was fumbling around with a stereo output Taylor acoustic (thanks Ferg!) so I tracked the guitar. Then I played drums and bass and another electric guitar, just to see how that acoustic might sit "in the mix".

Then thought what the heck... never even sang it before, so I gave That a whirl. As usual a song keeps pulling at me to continue with whatever experiment is underway until I crash. So I figured, why not share it mistakes and all? Played everything live as usual. If you've listened to this, I hope you did so on headphones because it started out all about a simple stereo acoustic guitar sound.

Allie Relkoff dropped by to visit me at Hanville Sound one day back in 2019.  She asked to lay down the vocal for this famous song as it was ruling the airwaves at the time... but without any instrumentation to follow along with... OMG what a voice this young lady has! Attempting this especially difficult version of Sound Of Silence, re-released by Disturbed... Copyright 1966 Simon & Garfunkel. Hats off to Mr. Draiman of DIsturbed... how does he hold such a steady and ultra-quiet voice without his own heartbeat affecting his pitch??? It's really damn hard to do!

Shooting Star - The Relkoff Family Band

My new "heavy rock ballad". This throwback song was written from within the confines of life during the pandemic of Covid19. I hope you will enjoy this song for its message which is something like my mom used to say if I was ever down. Well, she was right!

A flick of the old Standby Switch to an unwavering connection in my life, inspiring me to "deal with it" daily and helping me believe that this music lives on!

(BTW... I have now realized that live drumming is much more difficult for a simple guitar player like me than one might think! Lol!)

Love the Foo Fighters!!! Seems everyone is posting their version of this amazing tune recently so I thought I'd learn and post my own "Covidian Cover" of it recorded live-to-track 11-NOV-2020. It's just a rough take of my 3rd time through... but wow next time I'll take a much bigger breath near the end(don't know how the heck Dave does it!!).
