I think the sparks came from the force of THz's axe, not the fact it was hitting the spinner mech. Also, Vulture has been said to have not worked at full capacity sicne the first hit by Revsmin.

The problem is that when THz fought Sabretooth in S9, Sabretooth destroyed the specially built rear "tail" designed to keep THZ's ground clearance flush and they haven't replaced it with a new one yet, so they're stuck with a crappier tail that gives a worse ground clearance as THZ rears up.
