Julia graduated from Calvin University with a Bachelors in Instrumental Music Education in 2019 and received her Master's Degree in Music Composition from Wayne State University in 2023.

During her undergrad, she worked at the St. Cecilia Music Academy in Grand Rapids as the directors assistant. She was also featured as the guest conductor of the Calvin College orchestra, during their annual music festival in the fall of 2018. 

​After graduating, Julia became the assistant director of the Ward Church community orchestra. While working with the choir and orchestra, Julia developed a passion for arranging and orchestration. She now works as the orchestra director at the Farmington STEAM Academy.
