‘Sea of Clouds’ is a two-track debut EP by @djcl0pe (CH). Its conceptual inspiration originates from the emotional resonance and universe of the movie “Castle in the Sky” by Myasaki. Without falling into specific categories, it lives somewhere between ambient and dream trance.

Max Dahlhaus and Kronom team up for Unizone on “Trauma Tendrils” with remixes from Domizako and Ice_Eyes. “Trauma Tendrils” lands with all the diplomacy of blunt force trauma. Both veteran producers trawl the deepest and darkest recesses of their personal brands of dystopia, settling on a chaotic course of textured experimentalism and distorted broken rhythms. It’s industrial techno that has dissected and reorganized its molecular structure. Tracks that simulate the experience of emerging from the primordial cyber cocoon. Caked in dirt, drenched in acid, mouth full of gristle. All that’s left to do is tear the feeding tubes out of your stomach, punch a hole through the membrane of your prison, and rush the sentinels. What’s the worst that could happen?

In the lead-up to our event with @halcyon-veil at @icalondon, we invited the label to curate a special sub-series as part of the celebration of our 20th mix release under Emulsion. 

Kicking off this series is a mix from @bapari, a Haitian-American artist based in LA, known for their genre-blending, high-energy sets that explore themes of identity and movement.   

Bapari has been making waves in the underground electronic music scene and recently contributed to the production of "Eusexua," the title track of FKA Twigs’ forthcoming album.

For his sixth 96 Back LP, Evan Majumdar-Swift found himself writing “a long form eulogy” to his years living in Manchester while preparing for an imminent move to London. Initially intended as a series of technical exercises, which saw the artist radically stripping back his established production setup, over the last two years tender, exit gradually took on the form of an emotional landscape, mapped in transit between two cities. “The overarching concept of the record is cycles, recognising them, loving them, and tearing yourself away from them,” he says. Heard together, the project takes on the pace and cadence of a passionate conversation with a loved one.
