Songwriter/producer Matt Ragland led independent rock band “Nelo” from small underground clubs to national stages such as Austin City Limits Music Festival, House of Blues, Granada Theatre (Dallas), Georgia Theater (Athens), South by Southwest Music Festival, CMJ Music Festival and others with a classically grass-roots approach, relying mostly on sheer word-of-mouth and consistent touring to spread the word. Pedernales Records(Willie Nelson's record label) took note of Ragland’s songs and band early on and signed them to a recording contract that helped produce three studio albums and two E.P.’s, some debuting in the top 10 of the iTunes Rock Charts and ranking in the top 25 of the National Billboard Heatseekers Chart. Ragland has worked with Doug Lancio (Patty Griffin, John Hiatt), CJ Eiriksson (U2, Steve Lillywhite), Dave McNair (Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen) and more.
