This track was written for depression awareness last year.

One in six New Zealanders will experience serious depression, at some point in their life. This could be someone close to you. If you know a friend or family member who may be struggling with anxiety or depression, always be willing to listen, support, be understanding and encourage them to seek help.

Don't let the world swallow you whole
When finding it hard, you've just got to mention
Own the steps you take and follow your soul
You've gotta find your own direction

I try to smile every dawn, don't feel any better yet, no matter how my day goes, my sense of self is offset, 
Not with what I can control, not even something that's real, but with the punches I roll, bleed so I know I can feel.
I can't take this anymore, sometimes Id rather be gone, each day like the one that's before, not worth the paper its on.
I wish that I was a bird, soaring above all the hate or flying under the radar with nothing but what I create
As good as it gets, if so ill happily fold, tapping out full of regrets, leave and don't need to be told 
What my life could've become, hindsight is lucky for some, flinch at the gun and I should be holding my ground when I run, 
Now my nights are getting colder, pissing into the wind, the black dog is getting bolder, lifeguards are waving me in
Struggle to keep a grip on the things that keep holding me up, and things that I shouldn't trip on, do nothing but deepen the rut

How do I turn this around, climb out the hole that I'm in, break off the chain that I'm on, find a new way to begin?
How do I straighten the path with no silver lining the cloud, fill up a cup and a half, not blending into the crowd?
Latch onto that which you love, don't be embarrassed to speak, fortune favours the bold, silence inhibits the weak. 
I was enveloped in darkness, now I'm seeing the lightning has struck more than one time, bottle one then Ill be right.
I'm starting to feel a little bit more like my old self, now I'm skipping those silver linings and looking for gold ones, 
And its funny cos now there's no need for forcing a smile, and Monday morning was the most that I've laughed in a while,
And though you may not always feel like a billion bucks, little more puff in your chest, spring in the step on your chucks, 
Gotta keep looking ahead, let all them worries be gone, take every day as it comes, wake and be like bring it on.
