English translation of reading:

"The hot-tempered criminal genius Egon Olsen is the leader of the gang, and it is usually he who is behind very imaginative plans, where the remedies can be a Tuborg, 100 balloons, an old cheese, zero-summits and a pipe cleaner. The films are largely built according to the same formula: Egon gets out of prison, after which he presents his new plan, which will make the gang millionaires. The gang's opponents are the police, the top of society, financial criminals and Bøffen. Egon is often in prison and shares a cell with a lawyer or other high-ranking citizen who "knows good news" and can provide Egon with the information the gang leader needs in his brilliant plans, where everything is timed and orchestrated.

Most movies end with Egon being caught by the police and put behind bars. Sometimes because the police can't get to the real mastermind and take what they can find. As detective assistant Jensen puts it: "The only thing the police can do when the really big criminals come by is to offer them protection" (quote from the last exploits of the Olsen Gang). When the police come, Benny and Kjeld always manage to escape, usually through the back door, which the police in the Olsen Gang never thought of covering."*
