ZZK Presents ZZK Mixtape Vol 36 - Cruzloma

Influenced by the Dub revolution of the 70s in Jamaica, Cruzloma reinterprets Ecuadorian music and transports it to that context using production techniques that evoke the pioneers of this style. They make heavy use of effects such as Tape Echo and Spring Reverb to create atmospheres and soundscapes, evoking forgotten spaces in time.

Pioneering Argentine musician and producer Gaby Kerpel is back to immerse us in his folktronic world via his alter ego King Coya. Seven years after revolutionizing the scene with his Cumbias de Villa Donde, he’s back with “Tierra de King Coya”, the first single from a long awaited second album to be released by ZZK Records in 2017. 

How to describe the King Coya sound? It’s folklore for the dance floor. That means electronica mixed with chacareras, carnivalitos and cumbia. His shows fuse together electronic beats with traditional music roots, and the Queen Cholas dancers get the party started on the stage, inviting the audience to join in, a celebration of the ritual of music and dance.

Marwan Hawash (@marw1) is a Palestinian Dj and event promoter based in Haifa. Booking manager and co-owner of the late ‘Anna Loulou’ club in Jaffa. Marwan is one half of the Electronic Hafla due ‘Arabs Do it Better’( @arabsdoitbetter). Marwan see a strong connection between the middle eastern (Levant area), North African and the Latin American rhythm. He mix between Electric Arabic to acid African beats all the way to organic Latin sounds. Slow and unpredictable.
