THE BALLAD OF PELORUS JACK

Ye old sailors men of the sea
A dolphin came to guide us safely
He swam in the waters known as French Pass 
Leading us through currents to safety at last

My ship the Brindle she‘s steady and strong 
Our friend Pelorus Jack helped us along
He leapt at my bow sharing his joy
Thru the mist and the rain, he did bid us ahoy!

Pelorus Jack knew the waters ahead
I will lead you through danger he said
Old faithful Jack he was here forty years 
He gave his heart to us sailors 

A drunken sailor on a ship named Penguin 
Shot a bullet through Jack but he still fought to win 
Four weeks we watched for him morning till night 
One morn he appeared in the bright sunlight

The Penguin was lost in a violent storm
Jack turned away and all were forlorn 
Thousands of ships were saved by his eyes 
Will mankind now listen and hear dolphin‘s cries 

Pelorus Jack, Oh where are you now 
Leading a ship in heaven somehow 
Pelorus Jack, our guide in the night 
Your spirits in history, a legend in light

The dolphin looked upon the child 
Out from the sea so soft and wild 
Come sing with me let go your fear 
And share the dream you’re meant to hear 

A heart can sing in rhyme and song 
It’s in our hearts where we belong 
And you can live life joyfully 
Like all the dolphins in the sea 

Open your heart, and love will grow 
Open your heart, to light the soul 
Open your heart, the sea will give

For I have learned out in the sea
The greatest gifts we give are free

Dream Of The Dolphins

More than 300,000 whales, dolphins and porpoises die every year as a result of being caught in fishing gear and nets.

Feel the rope, tight and wet
Across your face
Ripping your fin
To bring the tuna in
 
Try to fight, try to break free
You’ve got the right
Caught in the net
Can’t breathe
 
Caught in, caught in

Dolphins are dying
Dying in the net
 
The motor runs from fisherman to families
Tangled and twisted
drowning
 
Drifting, catching, killing everything,
no way out
Even mothers and their young
no way out

Frightened babies cry
salty tears
One hundred thousand die
year after year
Running screaming
From the big machine

There are so many things I want to show

Though lately we’re so busy
