In collaboration with the Surface Tension collective, Infinite Beat Ambient created an after hours audio, visual and olfactory experience. Live performances by Bleie, Brooke Keller (odi me, Gayphextwin) and Roche. 

This live ambient DJ set was inspired by my favorite San Francisco artist and Infinite Beat collaborator, Paul Clipson, which featured a  few selections of music that he shared with me and some music that I had the honor of sharing with him. It was meant to play like a film soundtrack.

This mix is dedicated to Paul Clipson, his family and our local film/arts/music community in San Francisco.

Waiting For (Feat. Jamila Woods)

“Frida Kahlo,” the new single from Iska Dhaaf, is a nuanced piece of storytelling. The song's narrator, Nathan Quiroga, tenderly weaves his own disappointment and feelings of isolation with the famous struggles of two iconic painters (Kahlo & Van Gogh). A gorgeous piece of indie folk, each verse lyrically paints these artists inside of their own work. The song's expressively picked guitar and gentle piano glow beneath Benjamin Verdoes’s flowering vocal harmonies. Iska Dhaaf have taken a compelling and unique approach to songwriting that extends a hand of comfort to their fellow lonely souls.

"Crying in Your Sleep," the newest release from Iska Dhaaf, tells a multilayered story that revolves around two separate dialogs: one from the waking world and one from the dimension of dreams. The production of the song has an ethereal delicacy that cycles around a driving bass line and clusters of electronic percussion. Beautiful pads and arpeggiations flutter and dance around the steady beat and heavenly keys. The main melody drifts in and out as a sweet lullaby as Benjamin Verdoes's gentle voice lilts and sways. Melancholy and sincere, "Crying in Your Sleep," flows through the currents of a lucid dream.

A short mix created for Small Press Traffic, a Bay Area-based arts organization that supports local poets, archives small press histories, & cultivates conversations between people in the arts. The original broadcast on December 18th, 2020 was a collaboration with visual artist, Subset, to accompany live readings by Noah Ross and S*an D. Henry-Smith.
