One Shall Stand

Part of the "Emotions" album. Fret is a prolonged worry. You are stressed, worried, biting your nails, thinking of all the possible things that can go wrong. It is a nervousness that continues to last after the thing that you fear has been faced. This song portrays a constant movement, starting with the sprout of fear that takes root as the string tremolos build. Once the tremolos end and the pace picks up, we are past simply worrying about something.

Merriment

Part of the "Emotions" album. Regret is painful, it's rough, it's challenging, and it hurts. Regret is different from despair because despair is passing, but regret can only be stopped if you force it out of your memory. With regret, the worst part is knowing that you can't go back and correct what happened, you can't change the past. You have to learn to live with that pain, or just force yourself to forget it, and neither is easily done. This song portrays this reoccurring pain by repeating the melody throughout the different instrument sections.

Regret

Part of the "Emotions" album. Tension is complicated and can even be confusing. It is most commonly negative and associated with arguments or anger, but it's not always this way. You can have tension between people without them ever arguing. This can range anywhere from simple disagreements to having preconceived notions about a person and therefore disliking them before you've even spoken a word to them. This 5/4 time signature has a rhythm to it that kind of throws you for a loop as you feel a constant resistance from the accented notes. With the melody appearing smooth and positive and the strings going all over the place, it's difficult to tell what the tone of the tension is.
