The first Star Wars Celebration took place in Denver, Colorado ... and it almost didn't. In this special episode (an edit and remix of Episode 63 from 2020), Scott Chernoff and Dan Madsen tell the story of how they brought it to life. From the tragedy of the Columbine shooting just days before to a 100-year rain that turned Wings Over the Rockies into a muddy mess to Lucasfilm considering pulling the plug at the last minute, Dan and Scott give you the inside scoop. 

Dan Madsen is a former president of the Official Star Wars Fan Club and the founder and former publisher of the Star Wars Insider magazine. A journalistic writer, he contributed many of the interviews and pieces to the Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine as well as writing the "Making Of" book for The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles TV series. He made a cameo appearance in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace as a kaadu handler, dubbed Dams Denna in Star Wars Legends. 

Scott Chernoff is a writer, editor, and performer who has worked extensively for official Star Wars publications, most notably Star Wars Insider magazine, where he was a writer and Managing Editor. He also wrote regularly for Star Wars Kids and contributed to Star Wars Galaxy Magazine and StarWars.com. He is the author of the 2002 book The Stars of Star Wars and has served as an onstage host at three Star Wars Celebrations.

Chernoff is also a comedy writer and performer known for his work on Rick and Morty, BoJack Horseman, Hot Streets, Conan, and School of Rock, among others.

Dan Donohue is the accomplished actor who brought one of BattleFront II’s breakout characters, Shriv Suurgav. He has been a member of the Oregeon Shakespeare Festival for 11 seasons and played Scar on Broadway and in the national touring production of Julie Taymor’s The Lion King. Dan has recently been seen on television in the CBS All Access series, Strange Angels and the Amazon Prime Original, For All Mankind. While Star Wars fans know him for his video game work as the cantankerous Duros, Shriv, he has also played roles in Skyrim (as Teldryn Sero), Wolfenstein II, Fallout 4, Halo 5 and Spider-Man. A character actor, he’s appeared in Chicago P.D., Fear the Walking Dead and Scream Queens.

Week to week we are "the Star Wars fan talkshow," but this week we are doing something a little different. As some of you may know, our host, Pete Fletzer, was a writer before a podcaster and over the summer of 2019, just for fun, he wrote a fan fiction story called High Value Target. As we deal with sheltering in place, social distancing and self isolation during the COVID-19 crisis, we decided to take that story and create an audiobook version of it. Pete is no Marc Thompson or Ashley Eckstein, but he did his best to bring the short story to life. We incorporated sound effects, some royalty free music and special guest, Josh Most of the Holochronicles podcast to play the part of two familiar star wars villains. 

If audio books and or fan fiction aren’t your thing, not to worry, we will be back next week with our regularly scheduled programming. However, there is still an interview in this show! When we debuted the story on April 4 LIVE on YouTube, we turned the microphone over to Josh and let him turn the tables on Pete. So, after the +/- 30 minute telling of the story, stick around for that.

Special Episode - Star Wars Fan Fiction Short Story Audio Book

Episode #20 of Streaming Star Wars w/ Ammo + Fletzer

Our host, Pete Fletzer is co-host of a second Star Wars show with David Amelotti from Beyond the Blast Doors. We have launched a live show usually every Friday night at 10pm eastern time called Streaming Star Wars where we will be recapping, analyzing and discussing each episode of Disney Plus Star Wars content with each other, with guests and with the live audience in the chat room.

Each week, after the live video show that can be found on the Beyond the Blast Doors video channel, we will post the audio from the episode here, on Around the Galaxy. Our regular, weekly interview show will still drop on Wednesdays, but think of this as a second show in your ATG stream.

This week we talk about the long-awaited faceoff between Ahsoka Tano and Lord Darth Maul.
