Don't be fooled by the governments tools that try to break you down, just to build you up to make your skin tough, the toughest around-
Ship you off to fight or you might die trying, thinking it's freedom you save, but the truth of this tale is that your life is for sale and spent on an early grave-

Jesus he saves and the devil he spends, for richer or poorer they can never be friends-
Can't explain how the people defend, exactly what they mean, and the difference between-

Don't be ruled by miseducating schools hoping just to get paid-
Adding to your fears selling you more years, while preaching that it is the way-
To break free of debt and make your life set, with an investment of time-
-But the truth of the matter all your money meant to scatter, every nickel and dime-

Don't be used by the church that you choose to spread a message of hate, to judge and condemn those you should call a friend-the lost that need to be saved-
Another sheep to the flock yeah it's easy to talk about what's guaranteed, everlasting life in a city made of light, a place that nobody's seen-

I've got a friend that knows just how to make me laugh when I am feeling down-
Could be a simple observation that she knows will turn my feelings 'round-
Take my mind so far away from time that I am left so unwound-

Though it seems so effortless, rest assured it's not chance, the universe has brought you to me-
As winding paths connect, two points that have always been set, eventually reveals it's truth

I know a troubled child who once upon a time was called my love-
Tried to look into the eyes but they'd divert and hide, oh so much-
In such a short amount of time that summer wind had come and gone-

With every page that turns a metaphor, for something learned or brought forth, evolution has its source-
Though its so clear we cannot see, what is so near will often lead, time will always plant the seed-

There are a pair of parents that for so long I have been a son-
Talked so very long about the world and all the things that they'd done-
Brought about a change so indescribable I thought, we're all one!

What would you say to make me change my mind, don't you know that the world isn't black and white-
What good would come from making them our kings? I'm just trying to get by, and I don't have any time to kiss their rings-

Can you explain what I've just seen, deceptive devices that have made their way from our TV-
Selling their story, trying hard to make me believe, giving us hope and telling everyone to breathe easy-

A truth that's beyond our reach, is sometimes all I find-
To you I might seem to gone to see, but to me it's all side to side-

Ruthless and rude, you know they sure got an attitude, trying to please you hoping to get two out of two-
Siding with god knowing exactly how to move, touching the masses yeah it's so easy to do-

Seeming genuine they acted out a play, and had us all believe that they could find a way-
Feeling desperate we crowded 'round the stage, faking your promises is just a business trade-

There was a little girl who wouldn't act her age, always turned down the other boys and girls when they asked her to come and play-
I got no time for silly stuff is what you'd often hear her say, and run along I'm busy, I got no time today-

She traded Kool-aid for coffee, her old dolls for the evening news, Like to study up on what the grown folks would do-
You's be a fool now to stop her, 'cause she got no time to lose, and her days and ways of childishness have all but gone it's true-

You dont know what you had, precious jewels that you hold-
While its yours dont throw it back, trade it for a mask that's old

At the age of sixteen her parents got a car, intentions were for learning, not to go very far-
But a fake ID made it easy to sneak out after dark, you'd often catch her mingling and drinking up at the bar-

Found a new way to party, hangin' out with the older crew, made her feel just like she was one of the grown folks too-
You'd be a fool now to stop her, 'cause she got no time to lose, and her days and ways of childishness have all but gone it's true

Many years later she had gotten what she asked, livin well beyond your years will make you grow up fast-
Made no time for silly stuff, regrets of her past, now she chases youth, something she's found doesn't last-

Can't undo what time has taught her, were no better if we chose, to study up and make our lives just like the grown folks do-
You'd be a fool now to want this, 'Cause the old just want the new, and like to study up on what the younger folks would do-

Because standing still will leave a bitter taste, and all these things that must be done-
To help me try and win the race, that ultimately can't be won

'Cause I only got today, and being alive is so different than living, regard this as the truth-
I only got to say that I've found a gift and I'm bent on giving, what do I stand to lose?

They say idle hands do the devil's work, so keeping busy's close to god-
Wasted time is of little worth, 'cause one good ride is all ya got-

Here or there, it does appear, a lasting dance forever-

Never ceasing constant motion, getting further and further away-
Until one day upon the horizon, something came into view-
The course had changed with the night wind, taking me somewhere new-

Trust in the current, go with the flow, there are some things you never know-
Even a man who is lost at sea, eventually can find the shore

In a not too distant memory, I recall a time of my youth-
Things occurred in simple symmetry and hardships easy to lose-

Though fighting rather bravely, a man had found his shore-
