 wrote and sang lead vocal on Black Merda’s signature song: Cynthy-Ruth! Also, Reality, That’s the way it goes
Good-Look, Windsong, and co-wrote: Ashamed and Prophet.
He’s a guitarist, bassist, songwriter and producer, who he loves and creates all kinds of music! But not all of any genre of music. He writes vocals as well as instrumentals. Loves funk and funk rock and being original.
He's self-taught and got his early experience and training playing in recording studios around Detroit during the Motown era, some of which were Fortune, Golden World, HDH and others.
He played bass on Edwin Starr's Agent Double O Soul. He worked with Starr in a band called the Soul Agents who toured with Starr Backing him on the songs "25 Miles" and "War" They also toured with Brunswick recording artists Gene Chandler, The Chilites, the Artistics and played with the Spinners.

My Country Morning

Robert Jones (formerly the Music Director/Keyboardist) for the legendary Funk Brother from 2005 - 2011 is still very active in the music community with his New EP Released in December 2019 titled "A Robert Jones Christmas". Robert started studying classical music with Authur La Brew at the age of 8 yrs old and started teaching himself R&B and Jazz at the age of 13. By the time he reached the age of 14 years old he was performing with other musicians and bands. At the age of 17 Robert played upright Bass with a Jazz band at Shaw College and he played electric bass with a blues band for a year. In the early 70's he played keyboards with a band called The Organization and they recorded a 45 called "Dreamgivers" and he also worked with groups such as Chapter 8 and Brainstorm. In the 80's he worked with entertainers such as, The Platters, Drifters, Coasters, Contours, Shireles and Little Anthony just to name a few. In the 90's he traveled with Dennis Edwards (formerly of the Temptations) and also did a tour for the Department of Defense from Egypt, Israel, Turkey, Italy, Greece and Spain with Spice & The Monster Band Robert's talented musical skills can be heard on the following recordings: Marla Jackson sings on Alembic Arts 3/4 Step featuring Roger Tucker on T-Jazz Friends and Lovers by Renee King Jackson Birds of a Feather by Charles "Charlie Hawk" Hawkins Robert Jones is currently performing with various groups such as: The Tim Hewitt Group, The Gordon Camp Band, Renee King Jackson & Front Street Jazz, The Charlie Hawk Band, Black Merda, The Rapper House Jazz Band, Roger Tucker and 3/4 Step and his own band The Robert Jones Band.

Put Some Funk In It louder

Born in Mississippi. Moved to Detroit at the age of six. Went to Detroit public schools. Got into the music business at the age of fourteen. Played on many of the hits songs coming out of Detroit, including Edwin Starr's first hit " Agent OO Soul ". Went on the road with him for years. We formed our own group called " Black Merda". Now, I'm the CEO of my own record company located in Detroit called "Third Child Productions".
