Luciano Berio's VISAGE and Lewis Carroll's JABBERWOCKY are the inspiration for SIGNALS FROM A SMALL PLANET. The accompanist interacts with the soprano in real time 'playing' the laptop,
triggering musical clips stored in Laptop memory.

Signals From a Small Planet: Lily Taylor and Gil

This is a live jam of something I've been working on this week.  The base is an odd soundbite of a foreign couple speaking a short motivational phrase and then I mangle that, cut it up, shift its pitch, run it thru a looping delay. On top of that two shifting lines of short melody, one a traditional lowpass-filter-vca affair and the other a resonator that provides a warm polyphonic sound. I love the harmonies in this piece, and the bits of speech leaking into the field of sound.

The only sequencer is a Doboz Prizma. Radio Music>Dervish>Z5000 is the voice treatment.
