This is despair, 
This is the death 
Ash on an old man's sleeve shall not rot the carcass
The marred foundations are we 
The parched eviscerate 
Soil Gapes at the vanity of toil
Laughs without the unending folly
After the dark that we denied. 

Water and fire fire. 
And fire fire.
More fire scorching the innocent
In the uncertain hour before water and fire decide our fate
The sacrifice and contending for the upper hand 
Interminable night 
At the recurrent end 
The death of hope suspended that marks the place where sabre
rattled on like tin 
Over the earth. Over the earth. Water and fire succeed 
Thats all there is now 
Ash the burnt of air. 
There are flood and the morning nears the ending of
Us

Myself yet being someone other— 
And dead patrol. And dead patrol. 
And in the waning dusk I caught the wind 
And hurried as if blown
towards speak: 
Too strange an ease and a cause of wonder 
But that noise, quiet at first, then getting louder
And louder
The Twirlees descend
Wrapping their ways around the unexpected
They move on to the next victim
