The Tower ( Brownie, Fox & Daniels)

A song inspired by taking my 89 year mother to The Vintage Boys  Rock n Roll show.
A three piece harmony group backed by a fantastic band.
After the gig my mother reminisced about her own rock n roll days mainly at The Tower Ballroom where she danced the night away with her sister, brothers & friends.
So I thought I would love to create a three part harmony song with a twist of vintage and modern rock n roll thrown in. 
Magic Mike Fox loves a challenge and Nat Daniels is always up for a sing a long with me & Mike . So from basically an acoustic version to this power house. Magic Mike waved his wand and it’s happened. 

The Tower Ballroom was an attraction in Birmingham England which opened to the public in March 1876 and closed permanently in 2017 and was demolished in 2022.
It held 150 years of history and It was located beside Edgbaston reservoir. 
The Tower Ballroom hosted a wide variety of events, including roller-skating, ice-skating, dancing, discos, weddings, boxing matches, theatre, and musical performances including many famous names that graced its revolving stage. 
It was the place to go in the late 50s/60s onwards for the young people of Birmingham to enjoy the thrill of a big live music and dance venue.
Many romances, marriages and divorces were down  to The Tower . 
My own parents meet at The Tower and went on to  have a wonderful marriage.
So I dedicate this tune to my parents and all those stories my mother told me about it and how iconic it was.
It feels like a part of me and I did visit it myself a few times for a night out  usually after yet another refurbished in the 80s/ 90s. 
The picture cover is a photo of the queue for that last ever afternoon dance. Couples who meet at The Tower and got married were asked to attend to give it a good send off before being demolished. 
Would especially like to thank Mike for his patience as always with me and most of all his incredible musicianship, producing & nice guy skills.
Nat for  another awesome vocal performance and the infectious energy she always brings.
Top people are hard to find and I’m eternally grateful to have collaborated with so many on this app and look forward to another fruitful year creating great music with great people.

A Deity Looks After Me

Black Dark Humor is a sad poem about the routine of life in a big city like São Paulo. A difficult day in the life of an ordinary Paulistano, facing work and dealing with the chaos of the city. A day when the earth stood still.

Close the door, turn off the light;
The dream has just begun...
Another blinding day of heat,
And burning flames...
Last month hasn’t ended yet;
Time is just a shadow...
Through these hazy days, I agonize,
Then beg for mercy...

Have some pity on me;
I’m both devout and crude.
Sentenced to twenty years
In the penitentiary of boredom...
Now and then I try, at last,
To sigh without a thought...
To drown my feelings deep inside,
