Sometimes, the African spirits in me get wild and remind me of songs that my parents played on their vinyl records! (We were forbidden as kids to touch, get close, think about or appear to touch these records or the record player)

The scratchy and hissing sounds of these old vinyl records have an amazing memory trigger of the nostalgic days! Most of these records are older than us!
These were played usually on a lazy African Sunday evening with the sun set views and a dusty, beautiful evening! The smooth Rhumba tracks always brought some degree of calmness to our homes!! 

Our parents collected records that had amazing African talents of the time.
These artists take us back to the golden age of African Rhumba and the unbelievable artistry of some of the greatest artists of the genre, including Madilu System, Mbilia Bel, Franco, Mpongo Love, Tabu Ley, Papa Wemba, Lutumba Simaro, Les Wanyika, TO OK Jazz ,Felix Wazekwa and many more.

●Lawrence is a vast music collector and a hobbyist DJ.

●Lawrence was born and raised in Kampala – Uganda East Africa. He started collecting and playing music as early as high school, throughout college/university and continued to follow his passion of sharing experiences through music.   

● Lawrence was inspired and trained by DJ HannyB of the former SM sounds and later Shure Sounds. 

●He played through college and high school dances and other areas like Nabinonya Entebbe,  Heritage park and later worked with Club East Enders on Namirembe road ( Old Kampala)

● Even after graduating as an educationist & Human rights activist,  Lawrence continued playing and collecting music as a hobby. 

● Lawrence has a soft spot for Old-school music, Soul,  classics, oldies, Jazz, Afro beats, RnB and Dance hall. 

●Later in life
 Lawrence relocated and he is now living in Chicago north western area, IL USA. 

●Together with other friends, they formed the AFROBASE CREW CHICAGO an umbrella entertainment event entity of DJs, Photographers, event Planners, caterers, decorators and more …. That serve the great Chicago area and states around the Midwest. (Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and more)

●Lawrence is also the CEO and Director of DJ LAWRENCE SERVICES, a private company that provides Sound, Lighting and does weddings, anniversaries, club events, birthdays, graduations and more.  {BOOKINGS +1-815-219-1608}

●He is a perfectionist that loves great sound, professionalism, team work and learning from other DJs. 

He loves making people happy and entertained through music.
