The long-awaited first official LP from Michigan-based producer Sango, North, will release digitally on Soulection July 23, 2013 with vinyl to follow. 

Sango’s North brings forth a new sound, one that pulls from soul, rnb, future bass, hip hop and broken beat fusing them together with seamless vocals chops and grooves. North features collaborations from a diverse group of artists like Australia’s Ta-ku, cinematic downtempo producer Atu, nu-soul singer JMSN, story-telling rapper WALDO, newcomer vocalist Brea and Dpat who produced ‘Remember You’ for Wiz Khalifa and The Weeknd. 

Following major worldwide support for his refixes, EP’s and beat tapes from the likes of Brownswood’s Gilles Peterson, KCRW’s Aaron Byrd, and Noisey (VICE) to name a few, Sango is poised to elevate the definition of what “future” music is. 

10+ casual releases later, North combines the best of Sango over the last few years into one seamless musical journey. North is a love story of two people, on a journey, who find better things in themselves when they are with each other. North in Hebrew as noted visually in the album art [that Sango designed himself], representing a sense of “heaven” or “glory” are symbolic to Sango, as he sees everything he does an artist for the greater glory, the greater good, as something bigger than himself.

Meet Chloe Martini, super young female music producer based out of Warsaw. Chloe's sound definitely caught our attention about a year ago, with a style that displayed her classical background with a touch of electronic music. We immediately reached out and asked her to work with us on some capacity. At the time she humbly declined, stating that she simply wasn't ready to put together anything official. Since then, she has crafted her production skills, released smashing remixes and collaborated on tracks with other great producers/artists.

We are deep in the writing process post-exams and pre-Splendour In The Grass. We recently got hold of this really great old National organ and have spent days just writing out jams with nothing but it and an old MPC. 

Slow Burning is a really mellow vibe that came really out of one session, finding some interesting patches and a swung out vibe. We could have held onto it and labored over it for days and weeks but we just unanimously thought in the afternoon, lets just put this out there?

FALLOUT is finished. But as I step back, I am ambivalent: proud and insecure, excited and apprehensive, like a proud parent watching his baby all grown up, but leaving the nest and protection of home.

Much of my personal sound and background, developed over the years of listening to and creating music, is represented in this album. It also draws widely from not only music, but also the aesthetics of movies, television and literature I love. But FALLOUT is as much a celebration of where my sound is today as it is a recognition that I will leave part of it behind now that this album is in the wild. After putting together this collection, I know I cannot repeat it, and I have to say good bye to part of myself as a producer in pursuit of newness. That is a source of ambivalence- the pride in sharing something I’ve put so much into, and the recognition that by putting these parts of myself out into the world, I have to let them go now. 

But this is the welcomed aftereffect of pouring so much time and energy into this music. I know that by sharing this body of music with you, I am demolishing part of myself as a producer so I can reinvent myself again, and again.
