Welcome to the next Marine Women’s Initiative Team discussion.  Today’s topic is about female Marine retention: what is making us leave and what recommended changes can be made to keep our talented Marines.  Today’s discussion will be a townhall-like format where we hear from our Marines.  Some Marines submitted their comments via social media and we’ll use them to accompany the discussion.

Let’s get this started.  There remains a common misconception that women leave the Marine Corps to have babies.  After posting this comment in the Marine WIT facebook group the members immediately debunked and mentioned Marines leave more from a “death by a thousand papercuts”.  We’ll address those topics tonight.
