I like to collaborate with my artist daughter Tui Emma Gillies and our work has been exhibited around the world and bought by many private buyers and museums. I am from Falevai Village in Vava'u and I am good at creating with my hands. I have lived in New Zealand since 1978 and have two children and five grandchildren. My family is my world.

Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm a fan of wealth and taste. My name is Six. Why Six? Because Seven seemed ostentatious. My mountain is a mystery. My river is a riddle. But I am from the land and of the land and to the land I will return. I grew up in Kirikiriroa, of Scottish and English decent, with three sisters, a traditional mum and a hardworking stepfather. My parents gave me love, support and good values. During your darkest days you can lose everything, but no one can steal your values. The world can be a tough place and at some stage we will all experience trauma. Values not only dictate how we react to the world, but also how the world reacts to us. We can't always choose our situation. What we can choose is how we react to it.

This is me: I am Māori, Queer and proud. Age has never been something that concerned me. I am constantly surprised at how much i enjoy dressing up. It warms my character when I vibe to my own rhythm and how I can express through what I wear. Dance has kept me moving and yoga has kept me youthful and mobile. 54 has brought out an energy to create all of my dreams and make into reality. Use time on this planet to make change by just taking one step at a time.

Musician/Improvisor/Composer/Sound Designer. Since winning the CWI cup for most indoor points at my Primary School's agricultural day in 1978, I have dedicated myself to creative practice. Despite that precocious stellar success - which consisted of a native bush arrangement, an animal or bird from nature, a sand saucer, and a papier mâché pig - it was not long before music and sound became my focus.
