Premiere :  Function - Compulsive Thinking: Repetitive and Pointless [Tresor]

Drawing inspiration from science fiction, Black liberation, and the sounds of Detroit, Huey Mnemonic designs a sound that expands Black consciousness and pushes back against the whitewashing in dance music. The Motor City-based producer and sometimes DJ takes his name from Huey P. Newton and the 1995 cyberpunk film Johnny Mnemonic, a cult classic portraying a dystopian future controlled by mega-corporations. Mnemonic recently launched his Subsonic Ebonics label with the Virtuosity EP.

Preluding the Tresor 30 compilation, Huey Mnemonic composes "Transmutation" a glistening and high-spirited shuffling dance-floor rhythm track, on which the Talking Drum meets TR-909 patterns, creating an instrumental bridge between West Africa and Detroit. With "Transmutation", Huey Mnemonic demonstrates that he is undoubtedly at the forefront of a new generation of Detroit techno producers.

shortly after my first gig at Tresor on a wednesday night alongside Doug W N in 1999 I became one of the regulars for their wednesdays Bonito House Club parties.
I played countless gigs there almost exclusively on wednesdays, which taught me a lot about playing much more underground than I usually did. I played two of the 14(?)closing nights one back 2 back with Dixon and the other with Paul van Dyk and then I played the opening night at the new venue alongside Sven Väth.
Tresor always felt like home to me, so enjoy this Tresor session from January 2015...

Tresor.283 unveils yet another exceptional debut EP, this time from the hand of Zadig.
The head of Construct Re-Form had already been initiated to the Tresor catalog with the inclusion of 'Panic' on the 'Demo Tracks #2' compilation, in 2013.

With 'The Stellar Hunter' he delivers three tracks rich in tradition, matching impeccably to his style, magical arrangement and masterful set of technique.

Between elongated synth pads, high-frequency blips and reversed kick drum sequences coupler with deep hypnotic bass lines, Zadig proves to be the talented recipient of an illustrious heritage in techno, carrying it forward with modern application.

Recording of the set I did last weekend at the legendary Tresor in Berlin. Had a great time hanging out with the BCR and Tresor crew, all the friends that came over, a lot of them from Rotterdam and of course the amazing crowd. Other artists that were playing on the same night were Joseph McGeechan, Monya, Ad.Lib and Chris Page. Great sets all night long! Thanks everybody for a night to remember!
