Artist Garth Lewis talks to artist and director of Project 78 Gallery Patrick Jones about his solo show 'Garth Lewis - Painting Again' at Project 78. The artist's new paintings are a distillation of a career spent researching colour theory they continue to be process driven employing a structure (grid) on which to hang these experiments/investigations. In the past Lewis has often worked digitally employing software to mix the colours, and he would argue that the painterly process is similar, except that the paintings are more intuition than logic.

In addition to his extensive career as a painter he also taught Colour and Visual Studies at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London where he undertook research into colour, computing and painting. The research lead to the development of Chromafile, a paint based colour palette and the award-winning publication 2000 Colour Combinations published by Batsford.
