The seventh instalment of Virtual Utopia is a 68-minute trip through the known (and unknown) cosmos; piloted by London-based 'Mademoisel'. A high speed pursuit which turn supermassive stars into needles of momentary light that disappear behind you almost instantly. A mix of driving space-trance and globular rollers, which will communicate more to the 'others' than any signal from the electromagnetic spectrum ever could.

Accelerating through chromatic corridors of a blurred existence, eventually you reach an open expanse of neuron-like structures. Electrical currents whirr and glow overhead as you travel at steady speed through the network of fibres; 'Where am I?' 'Am I inside the human brain?' 'Is this the structure of the universe?'

Travelling onward into the depths of space as paint-flicked stars decorate the distance; the interconnectedness of everything 'out there' accentuates the correlations and similarities between our universe and consciousness. Exploring the cosmos does really emphasise the concept of a macro/micro-cosm.

You program the machine to a much higher speed (2.2x10^7), the engines give a deep, metallic growl and the throttle propels you backward. This vessel is optimised for entering warp speed and maintaining stability.  Through the darkness and scattered lights, planets of various colours and conditions rip past you and remind you of your tremendous velocity. This is a voyage through the expanse of our existence; to explore the rocks, gases, lights and vibrations that made us what we are.

Various refuelling stations are set between the tunnels of assisted acceleration, which connect all districts of the nebula you're in now. They are of a clinical, utopian aesthetic of perfect white and frosted glass, warped reflections of panel lighting reflect from the chrome of the other docked vehicles. Once the robotic assistant has completed it's process, you undock and proceed the expedition.

You max out every dial on the control panel of the vessel; halos of light flicker around you as steadily  increasing g-force keeps you firmly in your seat. As you pass the speed of light, pulsations of energy shiver through you as  your past visions and memories bleed into your peripheral. 'Is this the sensation of going back in time?'
At this velocity, the boundaries between dimensions dissolve and you hear the abstract conversation of incomprehensible 'beings'. 'Who are they?'

Maintaining this speed you reach an end-point; of what only can be described as the 'Mirror of Existence', where a spirit of yourself is looking back at you. A conscious duplicate 'clone' stares inquisitively and reaches out their hand.
'Is this me?' 'Or is this another me?' At some point this universal version must cease and another parallel begin, perhaps you have found it...

Born in Vietnam, raised in France. NairLess is an assiduous producer, DJ, live performer and pianist. Before his electronic music journey, he studied and learnt to master the piano at the age of 4.
He moved on to electronic music in 2017 by starting the production of dreamy house music. He also integrated the collective “L’Appart Music” with which he had his first mixes.
In 2018, he co-founded the label “Aurore 404” which organized and still organizes parties in notorious Parisians clubs such as Nouveau Casino, NF-34 & Garage and released rising artists such as Gallegos and Pépé Elle and confirmed ones such as Ian Pooley.
In 2022, his music has evolved to fast paced but still smooth and hovering electronic music with a firm inspiration on old school 90’s early trance, balearic and progressive house.
He is currently released on labels such as Increase The Groove, Chikyu-u Records, Aurore 404, Nerang Recordings & Radiant Records.

As days around the northern hemisphere are getting colder and darker and Covid rapidly is approaching for a second wave, there seems to be not a whole lot to brighten up our mood in rainy Berlin. There might not be a whole lot, but there is still our good old friend, our partner in crime, our glimpse of hope in uncertain times, our first true love: music.

For this month's podcast, we invited young Argentinian talent Morena Miceli aka Morphena.

Before moving to Berlin half a year ago, she was studying cinema in Buenos Aires, where she started host parties and play music for her friends or at small parties around the city. However, being passionate about music since she was a little girl, she decided to fully emerge herself into music production and deejaying. 

Once arriving in Berlin, she realized that this hobby could be something much bigger and found a deeper meaning for herself in Deejaying: providing service to a community that cannot live without going out for dancing and expressing itself  around likeminded people.

Being still at the very beginning of her career, still in the process of understanding which styles of music she likes the most, she already came to the conclusion that music is more about creating the right mood and a narrative around it, than pinning yourself on specific genres. 

Depending on the mood of the day her music varries from spaced out and emotional tunes, which can be in the form of 90's trance/rave music to italo disco and house. 

Only arriving in Berlin half a year ago, she already made some quite big steps:  being trained by the No Shade DJ mentoring program and taking part in a mentoring program for music production with Open Music Lab. Her ambitions to make more out of music than it being a hobby also are reflected in her releases on Encaje records (Arg), OML (Berlin) and the upcoming one on Raiders (Berlin), which is about to come out in a week from now and is ready for pre-order.

For our Loser Records podcast series, Morphena's intention was to create a lush and emotional vibe, mixing cosmic house tunes with some dark italo.

We hope you enjoy the podcast as much as we do and wish Morphena all the best for her promising future.

The Youtube channel "Metroid Vibes" has been created in 2021 and is run by Mitsunobu, a french DJ/producer based in Marseille (France).
His musical universe is inspired by Electro, Proggy and Techy House from the 90's/00's, but the goal of the channel is to put the spotlight on the current artists who produce the music he loves.
