Hello,

My name is Luke (65) and I have worked many years as a Live-mixing engineer in the analog age and still like working with music (ears are still oke).

Now I have a studio at home (Avid Pro Tools Studio and controllers, Motu interface and Yamaha MSP 10 studio monitors) and do some small mix and mastering jobs.

I started as a bass-player but I made the switch to working as a professional live mixer for well known bands in the Netherlands. I had a great time.

I followed some courses (Avid) to make the switch from analog to digital and working digital for 10 years now.

(Live mixing and studio mixing are two different worlds, still pick up things to learn)

For me the most important thing is to capture the feeling/emotions and energy of the band.

I find it a challenge to make a mix where you hear a band (not separate playing artists and bring the emotions from the band into the mix. (each style is different so you must be able to adapt)

You're never too old to learn and I like to try new ways to approach the challenge that is asked me at that time, but feelings while playing comes first and catch that feeling is number one. Music is about feeling in all it's different forms. I like recordings that are live played by the band/artist. Just 1 take. Thats what I used to do as a live-engineer. 
Going from Live/analog to Studio/digital is a big step. But I am still looking for new ideas and.  never stop learning.

Now the second big step:  building a 7.1.4 Atmos setup. 
After follow course at Dolby Institute and getting familiar with the software on headphones it’s now time to mix on speakers. Another great challenge. Looking forward to be immersed in sound all around me. It gives more creative possibilities 🎸🎸🎧🥁🎶🎤🎹👂👂
