This song was an idea Maddie had created around a sample of her favourite Sonic level. Ivan had come up with some chorus ideas but it wasn't until Filo came in and dropped his part where Ivan and the team were blown away. The chorus pushed the song even further and they were motivated to finish it despite a gruelling creative process.

Moving Forward

Sleep (feat. xofilo)

This is the second single from Ivan's upcoming album 1958. The song is about trying to finish the hardest level in a video game and features his very own vocal coach on the Saxophone.

The Underground (Single Version)

Ivan was told to write a song as if he was writing for a film. He decided to pick Bladerunner, one of his top ten favourite films. The song is very much inspired by Vangelis, with it only being synthesizer, strings and piano. To add to the robot feel, he was inspired to record only in vocoder and autotune.

Roy Batty

This track was a long existing demo that got forgotten about, with the original demo remaining as the backbone of the song. The intro consists of Ivan learning how to play the melody itself, hence why its so long. The idea of the whole song was inspired by Big, that underneath every working adult was a child who just wanted to play with toys. The song includes many of Ivan's musician friends, including Sam Tempest on Drums, Will Schultz on Guitars, as well as Reanna Smith and Gamini Khurana on backing vocals.

A Kid For A Day

This song was written for a friend of Ivan's, who helped him out of a depressive episode. This friend also does backing vocals on the second track of the PJ EP. Musically, the song is a tribute to Elton John, and tries to translate his piano driven glam rock to a modern EDM sound.

Gospel Woman

This is the final track on the PJ EP, initially an instrumental that was written specifically for Suzannah, but when returning to it a year later, they saw potential for a cool duet. Inspired partly by London Grammar, a band that Suzie was really into at the time, the sound of the record also takes influence from Brian Eno, Genesis, Coldplay and Linkin Park.
