Careful consideration was taken when selecting both the samples of native peoples used in this as well as the image that was used for the single. I wanted to avoid using generic “tribal” references in an effort to stay away from perpetuating the idea that all native peoples are the same, effectively erasing the unique culture associated with their respective tribes. Sepultura worked with the Xavante tribe in Brazil because their culture is tied to the heritage of the members of Sepultura. As a generic white man, I have no culture that wasn’t built on the terror and exploitation of native peoples all over the world. So I thought it best to do what I could to maintain the representation of the Xavante people. The samples used in the beginning and at the end of the song are of the Xavante people. The image used for the single art is of a member of the Xavante people.

This track was inspired by a conversation a friend and I were having (Eric Crowe/Marax) about how everyday is an adventure when you are a kid.  I was never able to let that conversation leave my mind for some time so, I decided to make a track about it.

When Days Were Short and Life Seemed a Little Longer

This is the first song that I distinctly recall making me feel sad. It came from out of nowhere in the 1987 movie Ernest Goes to Camp. The song was written by Shane and Alice Keister and was originally performed by Jim Varney in the film.

Guitarist/vocalist Eric Crowe cathartically screeches, bellows and croons over a riff wall created in tandem with bassist Patrick Lowe, providing ample sonic territory for the dense intensity of punishing drumbeats of Clifton Carr (Dead Hand.) KNAVYSSH began asphyxiating audiences since 2012, under the Crawl moniker. They are focused with no plans to cease punishment; with a string of praised releases under their name, the band’s future is as hugely bleak as the riffs they carve out of the darkness.
