Momma sitting on the front porch swing, I was 18 going out with the boys,
I'll be home by midnight... so you don't have to fret it.
We're going down to Eddie's gonna have a good time, 
drink a few beers, maybe sipping some wine,
I knew that if I came home late I was going to regret it.

And Momma said “My son, I'll be waiting when you come home,
I'll be sitting in the front room chair and I'll leave the porch light on.
There's some things up-ahead that you'll go through you gotta face then on your own”
she said “my son, I'll be waiting when you come home”.

VS2
I looked around for years 'till I found the right one, I could tell that Momma knew it was right,
Buy a house, move to town... maybe a couple of baby's.
I knew that it was time to be leaving the nest, 
Momma said “son you gotta do what's best,
come and visit every now and again and I don't mean maybe”.

CH2
And Momma said “My son, I'll be waiting when you come home,
I'll be sitting in the front room chair and I'll leave the porch light on.

she said “my son, I'll be waiting when you come home”.

Momma's getting down to the end of the road,and she's thinking that it's time to go.
my boys and my girls by her side,  just to hear her wisdom.
She said, “you know the one who's gonna show you the way,
Just learn to pray together then you'll be OK,
You know your Daddy's up there... and I'll always be with him.

CH3
And Momma said “My son, I'll be waiting when you come home,
If there's a chair then I'll be sitting there, if there's a porch light I'll leave it on..

she said “my son, I'll be waiting when you come home”.
She said “my son.....I'll be waiting when you come home”.
